About CHIC Ledger

CHIC Ledger is building early-stage financial infrastructure for the U.S. self-funded employer healthcare market. We operate as a neutral trust layer between employers, TPAs, DPCs, and hospital networks—recording and orchestrating healthcare payments without adjudicating claims or holding custody of funds.

We are a lean, institutional-grade team with clients already lined up to deploy.

The Role

Healthcare claims data is messy, unstandardized, and varied across third-party administrators (TPAs). Your primary mission is to bridge this gap: take inconsistent, partially digitized claims and contract-rate data from our TPA partners and turn it into clean, structured data pipelines our engineering team can build against.

You will work directly with external partner organizations to inspect how their data is stored and transform it into production-ready schemas.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with external TPA engineering and operations teams to map out varied, non-standard claims and rate data formats.
Architect and deploy solid, production-grade data pipelines to extract, transform, and normalize complex healthcare data.
Enforce clear data boundaries between Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA and clean payment/settlement records.

Must-Have Experience & Skills

Healthcare EDI Depth:

Hands-on experience working directly with standard healthcare claims formats—specifically

X12 837

(claims) and

X12 835

(remittances).
Healthcare Contract Intelligence:

Real-world understanding of contracted rates, tiered network pricing, direct-contracting models, and PPO wrap logic.
Data Pipeline Engineering:

Strong fundamentals in data pipeline architecture. This is an engineering role, not a BI or analytics position.
AI-Agent Native Workflow (Mandatory):

Our CTO operates an AI-agent-driven engineering process using multiple AI coding agents running in parallel. You must already build this way—leveraging AI tooling for pipeline creation, transformation logic, and documentation, while maintaining the critical eye needed to evaluate AI-assisted output.
HIPAA/PHI Fluency:

Clear understanding of what constitutes PHI versus operational settlement data.

Note: You do not need deep payments, banking, or financial settlement experience—that domain expertise is fully covered by our CTO. We prioritize healthcare data depth.

Compensation & Path

We are operating lean at the pre-seed stage with an active seed raise underway:

Weeks 1–8:

4–8 weeks of sweat equity to start.
Seed Raise:

Step up to seed-level salary upon closing the round.
Series A (~12 Months):

Transition to full market salary with a meaningful equity stake.
