Job description
Join Intellisense.io to build the future of Scientific Intelligence
Are you curious, collaborative, and excited by solving complex problems?
We're looking for an accomplished Data Scientist who thrives on intellectual challenge, enjoys working with a diverse team, and wants to use their skills to make a meaningful impact. If you love data, science, and technology, and value inclusion and empathy in your work environment, we want to hear from you.
What Youâll Do
Youâll take mathematical and empirical formulations and turn them into high-quality, tested, and scalable Python software. You will focus on software architecture, code quality, unit testing, and maintainability, ensuring our modeling codebase is robust and ready for customer deployments. Whether you come from academia, industry, or a different path altogether, we value the unique perspective you bring.
Youâll:
-
Design, implement, and maintain robust production-grade Python software for mathematical and physical models
-
Set and uphold code review guidelines, test coverage policies, and architecture standards
-
Refactor and optimize existing scientific codebases to reduce technical debt
-
Integrate models into scalable data pipelines and collaborate with the wider software engineering team
-
Work alongside domain experts to translate empirical concepts and algorithms into modular, reusable software
-
Identify bugs, performance bottlenecks, and areas for systemic improvement across model deployments
-
Mentor team members on software engineering best practices within a data science context
About You
Weâre not looking for âperfectâ candidates, weâre looking for authentic, driven, and adaptable people. If you donât meet every requirement, but believe youâd thrive in this role, please apply.
You might be someone who:
-
Has formal training or a higher degree in Computer Science, Computational Engineering, Physics, or Applied Math
-
Is passionate about writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
-
Enjoys bridging the gap between science and software, communicating effectively between software engineers and scientists
-
Has experience with production Python engineering (OOP/functional, modular architecture, unit testing with pytest)
-
Shows curiosity and an inquisitive approach to technical problem-solving and architecture design
-
Appreciates friendly and empathic communication in a fast-moving, diverse, and distributed team
-
Is excited to build the underlying software for physical/empirical models, configurable optimizers, and machine learning inference engines
We welcome applications from both mid-level and senior professionals; however, due to the complexity of the role, it may not be suitable for recent graduates, as the successful candidate will be expected to solve complex problems independently and liaise directly with clients when appropriate.
Tools & Techniques We Use
You donât need to know all of these, but youâll have a chance to learn and work with:
-
Production Python engineering & scientific stack (Git, pytest, CI pipelines)
-
Translating mathematical or physical algorithms into structured, reusable software
-
Operational technology or industrial data
-
DevOps & Infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, package management)
-
Distributed systems or web services
What We Offer
-
A truly inclusive, supportive team culture
-
Flexible working hours and remote-first environment
-
Competitive salary with performance-based growth
-
A chance to work on meaningful, impactful projects
-
Opportunities to stretch your skills and learn from others
-
A workplace where your voice is valued, your ideas are heard, and your wellbeing matters
