Job Summary

For our UAE-based client in the sector of Tax & Regulatory Compliance Technology, we are seeking a DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in on-premises Azure DevOps Server administration to support a tax transformation platform covering Exchange of Information (EOI), FATCA, CRS, and CTS reporting. The role covers server administration, database management, and scripting-driven automation across the platform’s build, release, and infrastructure lifecycle. This is a remote opportunity, open to full-time, part-time, and contractual engagement models.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the on-premises Azure DevOps Server platform, including server upgrades, backups, and agent pool management

• Administer Virtual Machines (Windows Server), including OS patching, resource allocation, and performance tuning

• Administer SQL Server databases and write T-SQL scripts, including automated database deployments (DACPAC/Migrations), backups, and data-tier performance troubleshooting within the pipeline

• Analyze and address build script problems, MSBuild-related errors, and application runtime issues through strong proficiency in C# and .NET technologies.

• Automate server tasks, deployment routines, and system maintenance using PowerShell or C#

• Configure and maintain IIS, including SSL certificate management and application pool optimization

• Manage Git-based workflows and branching strategies within a private server environment

• Support automated deployment, infrastructure, monitoring, security, and release management for the tax transformation platform

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in managing the on-premises Azure DevOps Server platform, including server upgrades, backups, and agent pool management

• Strong experience managing Virtual Machines (Windows Server), including OS patching, resource allocation, and performance tuning

• Proficiency in SQL Server administration and T-SQL scripting, with the ability to automate database deployments (DACPAC/Migrations), manage backups, and troubleshoot data-tier performance issues

• Practical experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem, with the ability to diagnose and resolve build and application runtime issues.

• High proficiency in PowerShell or C# for automating server tasks, deployment routines, and system maintenance

• Expert knowledge of IIS configuration, SSL certificate management, and application pool optimization

• Mastery of Git-based workflows and branching strategies within a private server environment

Good to Have

• Experience with tax information reporting and Exchange of Information (EOI)

• Experience with DevOps in a Tax Transformation context: automated deployment, infrastructure, monitoring, security, and release management for a tax transformation platform

• Familiarity with FATCA, CRS, and CTS regulatory reporting requirements

AI Experience

• Hands-on exposure to AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for script generation, debugging, and optimization across PowerShell and C# is preferred.

• Interest in applying AI-assisted tools to accelerate build log analysis and deployment troubleshooting

Managerial Experience

• This is an individual contributor role; candidates should demonstrate strong technical ownership of the on-premises DevOps platform and the ability to work closely with tax transformation project teams

Operational Experience

• Experience owning the operational health of an on-premises Azure DevOps Server environment, including upgrades and backups

• Experience troubleshooting data-tier performance issues within CI/CD pipelines

• Experience supporting monitoring, security, and release management for a production tax transformation platform

• Experience maintaining IIS-hosted applications, including SSL certificate lifecycle management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

• 6+ years of relevant hands-on experience in DevOps/systems administration, with strong Azure DevOps Server and .NET exposure

• Comfortable taking ownership of assigned tasks while maintaining effective collaboration with team members across different locations.

Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)

• Relevant Azure DevOps certification at the Expert level, preferably Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or an equivalent qualification.

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or SQL Server certification is a plus
