JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Software Engineering – PMS Platforms provides strategic and technical program leadership for complex, enterprise-level hotel technology initiatives. This position leads the planning and execution of programs supporting Property Management System platforms, enterprise integrations, quality engineering, deployment readiness, and production operations.
The Director partners across Product, Engineering, Hotel Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure, Quality Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, and external technology providers to establish integrated roadmaps, align delivery commitments, manage dependencies, and drive measurable program outcomes. The position operates across a complex, multi-vendor technology ecosystem and is accountable for bringing structure, transparency, and disciplined execution to initiatives that have broad operational and business impact.
The successful candidate combines technical acumen, strategic program management, executive communication, vendor leadership, and a strong understanding of enterprise software delivery. This leader anticipates delivery and operational risks, facilitates timely decision-making, and promotes scalable and sustainable solutions that support Marriott’s evolving hotel technology landscape.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Eight or more years of experience in technical program management, technology delivery, application development, platform engineering, or a related discipline, including leadership of complex, cross-functional enterprise technology initiatives.
Demonstrated experience leading programs involving cloud or SaaS platforms, enterprise integrations, external technology providers, and multiple business and technology stakeholder groups.
Preferred
Experience with hospitality technology, hotel operations platforms, Property Management Systems, reservations platforms, or similarly complex operational technology ecosystems.
Experience leading large-scale modernization, platform implementation, deployment, or transformation programs across geographically distributed organizations.
Project Management Professional, Program Management Professional, SAFe, Agile, or comparable program and delivery management certification.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Drives the technical delivery and quality engineering strategies for Property Management System platform initiatives and related hotel technology capabilities.
Partners with Product, Engineering, Hotel Operations, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure, Quality Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, and Support teams to align priorities and coordinate execution.
Drives the identification, assessment, communication, and mitigation of program risks, delivery constraints, technical dependencies, resource gaps, and operational readiness concerns.
Coordinates the delivery of enterprise integrations across PMS platforms, application programming interfaces, middleware, event and messaging services, property interfaces, and upstream and downstream enterprise systems.
Guides technical and architectural discussions to ensure program decisions align with enterprise architecture, security, resiliency, scalability, data protection, and operational support standards.
Oversees integrated quality and release readiness across system integration testing, end-to-end testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, performance validation, deployment preparation, and production verification.
Directs implementation and launch-readiness activities, including release planning, technical cutover coordination, deployment sequencing, production validation, hypercare, and transition to steady-state support.
Partners with production support and Site Reliability Engineering teams to improve platform observability, operational resilience, incident response, root cause follow-through, and continuous service improvement.
Provides clear, concise, and decision-oriented communication to senior leaders regarding program health, accomplishments, risks, trade-offs, delivery forecasts, and matters requiring leadership action.
Facilitates cross-organizational decision-making, resolves competing priorities, and removes impediments that affect delivery across internal teams and external providers.
Builds strong working relationships across global business and technology organizations while promoting accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
