DOH Registered Nurse-Academics Nurse

Job Summary

The School Registered Nurse provides nursing care to students, responds to medical emergencies and promotes a safe, healthy school environment. The role includes managing the school clinic, supporting students with ongoing health needs and coordinating with parents, school staff and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess students presenting with illness or injury, provide appropriate nursing care and arrange referrals when necessary.

• Deliver first aid, respond to medical emergencies and coordinate ambulance transfers when required.

• Administer prescribed medications in line with authorised instructions, parental consent and clinic procedures.

• Develop and maintain individual healthcare plans for students with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and severe allergies.

• Maintain accurate, confidential records of assessments, treatment, medication administration, incidents and referrals.

• Communicate with parents or guardians regarding students’ health concerns, treatment and follow-up needs.

• Coordinate health screenings and vaccination activities with authorised healthcare providers.

• Monitor suspected communicable illnesses and follow applicable infection prevention and reporting procedures.

• Deliver age-appropriate health education on hygiene, nutrition, physical activity and wellbeing.

• Check clinic equipment, emergency supplies and medication expiry dates, and arrange replenishment.

• Support school emergency preparedness and educate relevant staff on students’ individual health needs while maintaining confidentiality.

• Follow applicable DOH requirements, school policies and professional nursing standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.

• Valid DOH licence as a Registered Nurse.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Relevant clinical nursing experience; school nursing, paediatric or emergency care experience preferred.

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
