Job Summary

Capital Engineering Consultancy is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team in Sharjah, UAE. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electrical design for building projects, with strong knowledge of UAE authority regulations and approval procedures, particularly SEWA, DEWA, and FEWA/EtihadWE.

The candidate should have proven experience handling electrical design activities for commercial, residential, high-rise, and industrial building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, authority requirements, project specifications, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for building projects.

  • Develop electrical layouts, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, and equipment power connections.

  • Prepare electrical load calculations, load schedules, single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel schedules, and cable sizing calculations.

  • Design and coordinate electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, and other associated electrical equipment.

  • Prepare and review lighting layouts, lighting calculations, and emergency lighting designs in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant UAE regulations, local authority requirements, and applicable international standards.

  • Prepare and submit drawings and technical documents for approval by SEWA, DEWA, and FEWA/EtihadWE, as applicable to the project.

  • Respond to authority comments, revise designs, and coordinate the resubmission of drawings and documents until approval.

  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions, and contractor proposals to ensure compliance with approved designs.

  • Conduct design reviews, identify technical issues, and recommend suitable engineering solutions.

  • Liaise with clients, project managers, authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support project delivery by ensuring design quality, technical accuracy, and timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical design within an engineering consultancy environment.

  • Strong experience in building projects, including commercial, residential, high-rise, and industrial developments.

  • Proven knowledge of UAE electrical authority requirements, particularly SEWA, DEWA, and FEWA/EtihadWE.

  • Experience preparing electrical design calculations, layouts, load schedules, SLDs, and authority submission documents.

  • Good understanding of applicable UAE codes, international electrical standards, and building regulations.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant electrical design and calculation software.

  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and responding to authority review comments.

  • Strong technical, analytical, coordination, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple design deliverables and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with a strong engineering consultancy background, hands-on UAE authority approval experience, and exposure to a variety of building projects will be preferred.
