Your Mission
As an
Electrical Design Engineer
, you will play a key role in developing and integrating electrical systems for European customization options.
You will contribute to the design, integration, and validation of electrical architectures, machine interfaces, and third-party technologies—from early concept development through production readiness and start of sales.
This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative construction machinery solutions, ensuring robust, safe, and future-proof electrical systems that comply with both EU regulations and Hitachi global standards.
What You’ll Be Doing

Design and develop electrical systems and integration solutions for European customization options on construction machinery.

Create electrical architectures, wiring harnesses, schematics, interface definitions, and power/control integration concepts.

Execute electrical engineering activities throughout the development cycle, including requirements definition, concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, validation, and release.

Develop and maintain CAN-Bus communication networks, interface definitions, and diagnostics strategies for machine systems and third-party integrations.

Collaborate closely with Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Industrialization teams to ensure seamless system integration and machine performance.

Support technical alignment and engineering discussions with HCM engineering teams in Japan and other international stakeholders.

Ensure electrical designs meet requirements for safety, EMC, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.

Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving activities during prototype builds and validation testing.

Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers on technical specifications, integration requirements, and documentation.

Ensure compliance with EU regulations, machine standards, and Hitachi global engineering requirements.

Contribute to design reviews, test planning, engineering changes, documentation, and readiness for start of sales.
What You Bring
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
-
Several years of experience in electrical system design and integration, preferably within construction machinery, off-highway equipment, automotive, agricultural machinery, or industrial equipment.

Strong understanding of machine electrical systems, wiring harness design, control interfaces, diagnostics, and system integration.
-
Knowledge of CAN-Bus communication networks, J1939 protocols, machine control systems, and electronic module integration.
-
Experience with electrical schematics and electrical system development tools.
-
Experience integrating third-party electrical or electronic systems is considered a strong advantage.

Experience contributing to multidisciplinary engineering projects in a cross-functional environment.

Familiarity with prototype builds, electrical testing, EMC considerations, and product validation processes.

Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
-
Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.

Ability to work effectively in an international matrix organization with stakeholders across Europe and Japan.

Genuine interest in Hitachi products and advanced machine systems.

Compensation built of a yearly gross salary between 53.000 and 88.000 euro (including holiday allowance and based on experience).
