Your Mission

As an

Electrical Design Engineer

, you will play a key role in developing and integrating electrical systems for European customization options.

You will contribute to the design, integration, and validation of electrical architectures, machine interfaces, and third-party technologies—from early concept development through production readiness and start of sales.

This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative construction machinery solutions, ensuring robust, safe, and future-proof electrical systems that comply with both EU regulations and Hitachi global standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop electrical systems and integration solutions for European customization options on construction machinery.

  • Create electrical architectures, wiring harnesses, schematics, interface definitions, and power/control integration concepts.

  • Execute electrical engineering activities throughout the development cycle, including requirements definition, concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, validation, and release.

  • Develop and maintain CAN-Bus communication networks, interface definitions, and diagnostics strategies for machine systems and third-party integrations.

  • Collaborate closely with Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Industrialization teams to ensure seamless system integration and machine performance.

  • Support technical alignment and engineering discussions with HCM engineering teams in Japan and other international stakeholders.

  • Ensure electrical designs meet requirements for safety, EMC, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.

  • Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving activities during prototype builds and validation testing.

  • Work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers on technical specifications, integration requirements, and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with EU regulations, machine standards, and Hitachi global engineering requirements.

  • Contribute to design reviews, test planning, engineering changes, documentation, and readiness for start of sales.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Several years of experience in electrical system design and integration, preferably within construction machinery, off-highway equipment, automotive, agricultural machinery, or industrial equipment.

  • Strong understanding of machine electrical systems, wiring harness design, control interfaces, diagnostics, and system integration.

  • Knowledge of CAN-Bus communication networks, J1939 protocols, machine control systems, and electronic module integration.

  • Experience with electrical schematics and electrical system development tools.

  • Experience integrating third-party electrical or electronic systems is considered a strong advantage.

  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary engineering projects in a cross-functional environment.

  • Familiarity with prototype builds, electrical testing, EMC considerations, and product validation processes.

  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.

  • Ability to work effectively in an international matrix organization with stakeholders across Europe and Japan.

  • Genuine interest in Hitachi products and advanced machine systems.

What We Offer

  • Compensation built of a yearly gross salary between 53.000 and 88.000 euro (including holiday allowance and based on experience).

  • 27 days of leave + 13 extra collective days of leave (ADV).

  • 'Metalektro' Collective Labour Agreement (CLA).

  • Excellent pension scheme with a high employer contribution.

  • Working from home possibilities and flexible working hours.

  • Budget of €1,500 to set up your workplace.

  • Collective accident insurance.

  • International learning and development program.
