Job description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities Maintenance department, based in Peterborough. This is a great opportunity for a qualified electrician to take on a varied role delivering planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance, alongside small works, across a portfolio of commercial, industrial, and educational sites.

You will carry out day-to-day electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and minor installation works, ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, and to a high standard, while building strong relationships with clients and site contacts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across a portfolio of client sites

  • Deliver small works projects, such as rewires, upgrades, and minor refurbishment-related electrical works, in addition to routine maintenance

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, minimising downtime for clients

  • Undertake minor electrical installation and improvement works as required

  • Carry out periodic testing and inspection of electrical installations, and complete associated certification

  • Price and quote small works where required, liaising with the Project Manager on larger scopes

  • Complete accurate job sheets, reports via CAFM system.

  • Create RAMS for each visit

  • Liaise with clients and site contacts, providing a professional and reliable point of contact on site

  • Ensure all works comply with current health & safety legislation, including CDM regulations and relevant electrical standards (e.g. BS7671)

  • Manage stock, tools, and materials required for ongoing works

  • Support the wider Facilities Maintenance team and, where required, other trades on site

Skills

  • Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent)

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) essential

  • Testing & Inspection qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391) desirable

  • Experience working within facilities, commercial, or industrial maintenance environments

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across a range of electrical systems

  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload across multiple sites

  • Good communication skills, with a professional, client-facing manner

  • Full UK driving licence
