We are currently looking for an Embedded Software Architect to join the optical phased array LiDAR effort. The role will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of CMOS, FPGA, Photonic, Electrical, Laser, and Systems engineers to develop and implement algorithms, control systems, state machines, communication protocols, and memory/peripheral controllers that are targeted for microcontrollers embedded inside our LiDAR system. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer who enjoys tackling big problems with a blank canvas.
Key Accountabilities
As the embedded software architect, you will be responsible for translating required system functions into code targeted for Microblaze and ARM microcontrollers. You can expect to execute the full embedded software design cycle, including requirements formation, architecture development, design, testbench design, and software test on the target hardware. You will also be expected to write C/C++ code targeted for desktops and/or Python/MATLAB code as necessary to interface with your embedded software. As the software team grows, your responsibilities will also grow to include technical leadership of the embedded software team.
Required Qualifications:

BS, MS, or PhD in computer engineering, software engineering or related field

4+ years professional embedded software design experience

Fluent in C and C++

Able to efficiently debug complex digital systems comprised of multiple microcontrollers

Experience working with ARM and/or Microblaze processors

Working knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python

Experience with FPGAs / Xilinx tools a plus

Comfortable working with custom-built electronics

Familiarity with embedded debugging tools such as Digital Logic Analyzers a plus

Familiarity with common embedded communication protocols such as I2C and SPI a plus

Ability to read electronic schematics a plus
