What you'll do
-
Join the engineering team of a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier on a new digital cockpit program, as a rinf.tech engineer embedded with the client.

Develop, test, and document embedded software for an ARM-based cockpit SoC running Android (user interface) and embedded/microkernel Linux (real-time and vehicle interface).

Take ownership of real development tasks across an end-to-end program scope, from vehicle interface through HMI.

Work day to day with a global engineering team, with development split between the Detroit team and offshore delivery centers.

Break requirements down into work items, provide effort estimates, and flag risk and priority.

Review code and unit tests from other engineers, and support peer reviews and design discussions.

Grow into integration, triage, and local technical support as the program moves toward launch, acting as the program's local software interface.

Work across software, hardware, systems, and quality teams in an ASPICE-driven development process.
What you need to be successful
-
3+ years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in electronics or embedded software.
-
3+ years programming in C and/or C++.
-
Experience developing on embedded Linux and/or Android.
-
Hands-on experience with in-vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet) and related tools (CANalyzer, CANoe).

Ability to turn requirements into functional specifications, design documentation, and working code.

Experience with AI-assisted development and code generation tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar).

Experience working in an ASPICE or similarly structured automotive development process.
-
Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working in a multicultural team.

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Based in the Detroit metropolitan area, with 3 days per week onsite at the client's Detroit-area engineering center. No travel outside the Detroit area.

Authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
Nice to have
-
Experience with digital cockpit, infotainment (IVI), or display ECU programs.

HMI development experience.

Familiarity with AUTOSAR, LVDS, or CANdela.

Familiarity with ISO 26262 (functional safety) and ISO 21434 (cybersecurity).

Master's degree.
