Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge autonomous systems and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms. In this senior/principal role, you will design, implement, and optimize embedded software solutions using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB to advance autonomous capabilities. You will work on complex hardware-software integration involving microcontrollers, FPGAs, sensors, and real-time operating systems (RTOS), contributing to innovative projects in the rapidly evolving field of autonomous systems. Your expertise will drive the development of robust firmware, algorithms, and system architectures that enable high-performance UAVs and autonomous platforms.

Duties

  • Develop and maintain embedded software for UAVs and autonomous systems utilizing C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and other programming languages.

  • Design and implement algorithms for navigation, perception, sensor fusion, machine learning, and signal processing to enhance autonomous functionalities.

  • Integrate hardware components such as microcontrollers, FPGAs, sensors, PCB designs, and embedded hardware into cohesive software solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define system requirements, create UML diagrams, and develop software architecture using tools like Confluence and Jira.

  • Conduct debugging, unit testing, firmware validation, and software troubleshooting across embedded systems running on Linux, RTOS, or custom operating systems.

  • Optimize software performance for real-time operation by leveraging knowledge of OS kernels, ARM architecture, logic analyzers, and embedded hardware interfaces.

  • Contribute to content development including documentation of algorithms, system specifications, API design (RESTful APIs), and engineering troubleshooting procedures.

Skills

  • Extensive experience programming in C/C++, Python, MATLAB for embedded applications in UAVs or autonomous systems.

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems programming including microcontroller firmware development (ARM-based), RTOS environments, and real-time systems.

  • Proficiency with FPGA design workflows and hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.

  • Familiarity with sensor integration (LiDAR, IMUs, cameras), signal processing techniques, and algorithm design for perception tasks.

  • Knowledge of communication protocols including TCP/IP, UDP/WAN networks; experience with RESTful APIs and JSON data formats.

  • Hands-on experience with PCB design tools; soldering skills; debugging tools such as logic analyzers; and hardware troubleshooting techniques.

  • Experience working with databases like MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server; scripting skills in Bash or Perl; familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus.

  • Understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., MATLAB ML Toolbox), big data analysis techniques, quantum engineering concepts are advantageous.

  • Skilled in software development methodologies including Agile/Scrum; version control using GitHub or SVN; continuous integration tools like Jenkins.

  • Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting complex embedded systems issues; ability to interpret UML diagrams; proficiency with Simulink for modeling.
