Our client is a well-established UAE-based electrical trading, distribution and manufacturing company with decades of experience in the electrical industry.

The company has an established

LV switchgear manufacturing division

, providing customized electrical panels and switchgear solutions for commercial, industrial, infrastructure and project-based applications across the UAE.

About The Role

The client is looking for an experienced

Estimation & Design Engineer

to manage the estimation, costing and technical design of

LV switchgear and electrical panels

.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical experience in

LV panel design, electrical schematics, BOQ/BOM preparation, tender estimation and switchgear component selection

.

Key Product / Panel Experience

The candidate should have experience with some or most of the following:

  • MDB โ€“ Main Distribution Boards

  • SMDB / FDB

  • MCC โ€“ Motor Control Centres

  • ATS Panels

  • APFC / Capacitor Bank Panels

  • VFD & Soft Starter Panels

  • PLC / Control Panels

  • Synchronizing Panels

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer enquiries, tender documents, specifications and electrical drawings.

  • Prepare technical and commercial estimations for LV switchgear and electrical panels.

  • Prepare accurateBOQs, BOMs and material take-offs.

  • Select appropriate switchgear components based on project specifications and requirements.

  • Prepare panel single-line diagrams (SLDs)and electrical schematics.

  • Develop panel layouts and assist with detailed engineering/design.

  • Calculate and prepare costing for ACBs, MCCBs, MCBs, busbars, enclosures, meters, CTs, protection devices and other panel components.

  • Obtain and evaluate supplier/component pricing in coordination with the procurement team.

  • Prepare competitive quotations while maintaining required project margins.

  • Review consultant and client specifications and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

  • Coordinate with sales, procurement, production and project teams to ensure smooth execution.

  • Review technical submittals and respond to customer/consultant technical queries.

  • Assist the sales team during technical discussions and clarification meetings.

  • Identify cost-effective alternatives without compromising technical compliance.

  • Maintain estimation records, costing databases and standard pricing information.

Requirements

  • 5โ€“7 years of UAE experiencein LV switchgear estimation and design.

  • Strong experience in switchgear/panel manufacturing or electrical contracting.

  • Hands-on experience with MDB, SMDB, FDB, MCC, ATS and APFC panels.

  • Strong knowledge of ACB, MCCB, MCB, RCCB, contactors, overload relays, busbars, CTs, meters and protection devices.

  • Experience preparingBOQ, BOM, costing and technical/commercial quotations.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical SLDs, schematics and technical specifications.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and preferably electrical design/engineering software.

  • Good understanding of IEC standards and LV switchgear requirements.

  • Strong MS Excel skills, particularly for estimation and costing.

  • Electrical Engineering / Electrical Diploma qualification is preferred.

  • UAE experience in switchgear manufacturing is essential.

Ideal Candidate

We are specifically looking for an engineer who has

hands-on experience in estimating and designing LV switchgear panels

, rather than a general electrical design or estimation profile.

Candidates currently working with

switchgear manufacturers, panel builders, electrical contractors or electrical engineering companies

will be strongly preferred.
