SALARY: $61,872.93 ($29.74/hourly), plus full benefits package
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of cash transactions, reconciliation of cash accounts, and ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulations. It is also responsible for the preparation, analysis and review of financial data and reports. The incumbent in this position will also assist with maintenance of AP ledgers, payments, reconciliations, and check runs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Reconciles, on a monthly basis, various subsidiary ledgers to the General Ledger - Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and cash-related general ledger accounts. - Investigate and resolve discrepancies in cash accounts promptly. - Ensure that all cash-related transactions comply with governmental accounting standards (GASB) and internal policies. - Prepares adjusting entries after analysis for year-end and interim closings/ - Analyzes financial data for various accounts on a monthly basis, to identify and explain variances form normal or expected levels. - Assist with daily cash operations, including the monitoring, recording and reconciliation of cash transactions. - Monitor cash balances in various accounts, ensuring funds are appropriately allocated and invested as directed by leadership. - Provide regular updates to management on cash position and projections. - Assists in preparation of interim financial statements and schedules. - Assists in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. - Collaborate with auditors during financial audits, providing documentation and explanations for cash-related transactions. - Maintain up to date knowledge of Governmental Accounting and Financial Reporting rules and utilizes these in determining proper accounting treatment of transactions - Receives, tracks and deposits money on a daily basis into the appropriate County bank account. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Accounting, Business or a related field; or equivalent years of experience in accounting. - 2+ years’ experience in governmental accounting or general accounting; One year experience in cash management. - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additional Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle. Must meet all eligibility requirements established by the Board of Commissioners. Must be willing to submit to a random drug and alcohol screening as directed. Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Professional knowledge of principles and practices of governmental accounting and financial management - Knowledge of Local, State and Federal statutes affecting County financial record keeping and reporting - Knowledge of County operations and procedures - Knowledge of electronic data processing - Skill in analytical techniques - Knowledge of the operation of a calculator, CRT terminal and facsimile machine. - Using a computer to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information. - Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel - Abilities to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure - Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional periodicals and journals, technical procedures and government regulations - Ability to write reports and correspondence

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level is usually moderate.
