Firmware Engineer

The Role:

We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Firmware Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for directly contributing to software and firmware development projects. Projects may be at various stages when the candidate joins, so this position will be dynamic and changing according to project needs. Writing and reviewing functional specifications based on business requirements, writing code, documenting code, testing and validating, or supporting products in the field are all within scope of this position.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Interact effectively with internal and external customers, delivering a high level of customer service and maintaining a customer-focused approach.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project objectives and achieve business goals.

• Perform assigned responsibilities independently following appropriate training, guidance, and established procedures.

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by continuously learning new skills, technologies, and processes.

• Maintain a strong commitment to safety, engineering rigor, and Toyota's Core Values while performing all job responsibilities.

• Support software development activities through the application of operating system concepts and foundational development practices.

• Contribute to bare-metal software development projects, including implementation, testing, and troubleshooting activities.

• Participate in software development projects utilizing object-oriented and functional programming languages and methodologies.

• Create, maintain, and enhance technical documentation to ensure clear communication, knowledge sharing, and project traceability

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree (or greater) in a related field such as software, electrical, and computer engineering, computer science.

• Proficiency in C/C++ on resource-constrained embedded platforms.

• Experience with Bare metal and/or Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

• Working knowledge of standard hardware protocols (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART).

• Strong debugging skills.

• Knowledge of operating systems concepts (HW & SW Interrupts, Threading, etc)

• Enjoy the best of both worlds with a hybrid schedule—collaborate in person at our Columbus, IN

The role will initially report in person during a period of training and will transition to a hybrid schedule once the employee has a solid understanding of the role and expectations.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

Salary - $73,840 - $94,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate's education and experience.
