Front-End User Experience Developer
Webb Design (contract at NetApp)
Job description
Front-End User Experience Developer
About the Role
As a Front-End & User Experience Developer, you will build and evolve, the digital front door for a global data infrastructure leader. Working within an agile, AI-forward team, you will develop high-performance, accessible, and intelligent web experiences using Next.js, Contentstack, and Vercel that directly support Marketing's brand, demand generation, and pipeline goals.
You are more than a developer who writes code. You understand how front-end engineering, UX, performance, and AI intersect to create measurable business value. You thrive in cross-functional environments, advocate for DevOps best practices, and understand how modern web architecture must serve both human audiences and AI/LLM systems to maximize discoverability and impact.
What You Will Do
-
Build, maintain, and evolve front-end frameworks, components, and templates within a Next.js / React architecture deployed on Vercel
-
Develop and manage content-driven experiences using Contentstack, including schema design, content modeling, and API integrations
-
Practice AI-forward development as a core discipline: leverage AI-assisted coding tools (such as Abacus.ai, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar), prompt engineering, and intelligent automation throughout the development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and solve problems in new ways
-
Build and optimize for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): architect pages, structured data, and content formats that maximize visibility and citation rates across AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and others), ensuring content is surfaced when prospects are evaluating vendors through AI-driven search
-
Create accessible, performant, and responsive web experiences that serve both human users and LLM/AI consumption (dual-audience architecture)
-
Collaborate closely with the Digital Experience & Design team, SEO/GEO strategists, content teams, and other stakeholders to translate designs, requirements, and business objectives into production-ready code
-
Partner with peer developers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence
-
Contribute to and enforce front-end guidelines, design system standards, and code quality practices
-
Partner with the team on Web Performance Optimization (WPO), Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG 2.2/ADA), and security best practices
-
Support analytics implementation strategy, tag management, and tracking in partnership with analytics leads
-
Advise leads and stakeholders on technical approaches, trade-offs, and delivery timelines; translate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences
-
Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) as a committed contributor to team delivery goals
-
Proactively identify opportunities to innovate, automate, and improve how we build and ship digital experiences
What We Are Looking For
Core Competencies
-
Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills
-
Strong critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and attention to detail
-
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, globally distributed team environment
-
Growth mindset with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies, experimenting, and embracing change
-
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate with autonomy in a fast-paced environment
Technical Skills
-
Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript
-
Deep expertise in React and Next.js (App Router, Server Components, API Routes, ISR/SSR/SSG)
-
Experience with headless CMS platforms; understanding of content modeling, API-driven content delivery, and structured content architecture
-
Proficiency with Vercel for hosting, CI/CD, serverless functions, edge middleware, and deployment workflows
-
AI-forward development as a core competency:
-
Demonstrated, active use of AI-assisted coding tools in daily workflow
-
Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features (chatbots, agentic experiences, content generation, intelligent search)
-
Ability to evaluate, prototype, and ship AI-enhanced web experiences
-
A mindset that treats AI as foundational to how modern software is built, not supplemental
-
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) & SEO:
-
Understanding of how front-end architecture, structured data (Schema.org, JSON-LD), semantic HTML, content structure, and metadata strategies impact discoverability
-
Knowledge of optimization techniques for both traditional search engines and AI/LLM platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and others)
-
Ability to partner with SEO/GEO strategists to implement technical optimizations that increase visibility and citation rates
-
Strong understanding of Responsive Web Design, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility (WCAG 2.2, ADA), and web standards
-
In-depth knowledge of Web Performance Optimization: Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, image optimization, lazy loading, caching strategies
-
Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices
-
Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, JSON, and third-party service integrations
-
Familiarity with analytics implementation (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics), tag management (Adobe Launch, Google Tag Manager), and A/B testing / personalization platforms
-
Knowledge of web security fundamentals: CSP, CORS, HTTPS, input validation, and awareness of emerging threats such as LLM prompt injection
-
Experience with design systems, component libraries, and collaboration with UX/UI designers
-
Familiarity with Akamai (CDN, image optimization, DDoS protection) or equivalent CDN/edge platforms
-
Experience with project management and collaboration tools (Asana, Jira, Confluence, or equivalents)
-
Experience building or prototyping AI agents, conversational AI interfaces, or LLM-integrated web features
Nice to Have
-
Experience with Contentstack specifically, including extensions, webhooks, and marketplace apps
-
Familiarity with personalization engines (Lytics, Contentstack Personalize, or similar)
-
Exposure to YouTube API integration
-
Understanding of GDPR compliance, consent management (Transcend or similar), and data privacy in a web context
-
Experience with search platforms (Coveo or similar)
-
Background in internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) workflows
Experience & Education
-
A minimum of 6 to 8 years of professional front-end development experience
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent practical experience
