Job description
Job Summary**:**
Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Gas Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the accurate and timely settlement of natural gas transactions, supporting the financial and operational integrity of our business. You will be responsible for preparing and validating invoices, settlement statements, account reconciliations, and internal and regulatory reports while helping ensure compliance with contractual and reporting requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a broad network of internal and external stakeholders, including Commercial, Trading, Scheduling, Risk, and Accounting teams, as well as customers and counterparties. You will investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies and reconcile counterparty invoices, while building a strong understanding of the settlement process and natural gas industry. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, customer focus, and the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization.
As a member of the TMV Gas Accounting team, you'll gain valuable insight into the natural gas marketing business while supporting transactions that directly impact the company's commercial operations and financial performance.
Location: Onsite in Omaha, Nebraska
Essential Job Functions**:**

Review and validate supplier invoices to ensure the accurate settlement of natural gas transactions, including verification of pricing, volumes, and contractual terms.

Partner with Trading, Scheduling, Contract Compliance, Deal Capture Control, and other business teams to understand deal structures, interpret contract provisions, and investigate and resolve pricing or volume discrepancies.

Prepare and process payment requests in accordance with contractual agreements, internal controls, and established settlement timelines.

Record and reconcile cash receipts within the Gas Management System (GMS), ensuring accuracy and alignment with bank records and supporting documentation.

Reconcile invoiced volumes to pipeline statements, research variances, and record appropriate adjustments within GMS to maintain data integrity.

Support the reconciliation of GMS activity to the general ledger by researching discrepancies and assisting with appropriate follow-up or adjustments.

Assist in matching nominations to commercial transactions, investigating discrepancies and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate deal settlement.

Serve as a key point of contact for customers and suppliers by responding promptly and professionally to settlement inquiries and resolving issues in a customer-focused manner.

Prepare and maintain internal reports, settlement documentation, and regulatory filings to support business decision-making and compliance requirements.
Basic Requirements**:**

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field

Reliable, dependable and predictable attendance

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Requirements**:**

2+ years of accounting experience

Understanding of the natural gas industry or a strong desire to learn the commercial, operational, and accounting aspects of the business

Ability and willingness to independently research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies involving settlement and operational data

Detail oriented with an analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills

Self-motivated and team-oriented professional with strong initiative, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
