In this position...

As a member of the Engine Controls software team, you will collaborate across departments—including calibration, systems engineering, and vehicle integration—to develop robust, production-ready solutions for current and next-generation boosted engine programs.

What you'll do...

  • Design and implement embedded engine controls and diagnostic monitorswithin the powertrain control module software

  • Capture and maintain requirements for vehicle control features, document changes using Ford’s model-based design process and tools, and create and execute validation plans using simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and in-vehicle resources

  • Manage configuration and complexity for a wide range of vehicle programs and powerpacks, and maintain high levels of compatibility and commonality with Gas, Diesel, HEV, and BEV powerpack configurations

  • Develop and validate control algorithms using C-code to meet functional, emissions, performance, and functional safety requirements (ISO 26262)

  • Apply powertrain control system software validation test methods—including unit testing (Unity/Ceedling), SIL, MIL, and HIL—to ensure system functionality and robustness

  • Troubleshoot vehicle and powertrain fuel-path functional and diagnostic issues; determine and validate corrective actions through data analysis, vehicle testing, and simulation

  • Maintain software description documentation, calibration guides, release notes, and requirements traceability for fuel-path software components

You’ll have…

  • B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education

  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • 3 years of experience with design powertrain control algorithms and associated software functions.

  • 3 years of experience with programming embedded automotive controls in the C language.

  • 3 years of experience with testing and debugging of automotive embedded controls.

  • 3 years of experience with C software development in automotive powertrain systems.

  • 3 years of experience with software version control, ClearCase and GitHub.

  • 3 years of experience with Matlab Simulink Software Development and Simulation.

Even better, you may have…

  • M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field

  • Experience with fuel injection, 3-way catalyst, gas particulate filters, and exhaust sensor controls and diagnostic monitors

  • Familiarity with OBD-II diagnostic monitoring for fuel system

  • Awareness of ISO 26262 Part 6, MISRA-C coding standards

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
