FirstPoint, Inc. is a leading national provider of information and operation services, background screening resources, revenue cycle management, call center services, decision data and association management. We currently have an opening for a General Ledger Accountant in our Raleigh, NC association management division.

Position Summary

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for generating clients' monthly financial statements and preparing financial records for annual tax returns and year-end audits or reviews. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute clients' monthly financial statements to account managers based on the delivery schedule.

  • Prepare and manage general ledger entries, ensuring precise data entry.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts for all clients.

  • Lead financial audits and tax return paperwork, including any schedules associated with year-end tax returns, in collaboration with the Director of Finance and external auditors.

  • Enter financial data for deferrals, accruals, and reclassifications.

  • Review cash deposits and cash receipt journal entries.

  • Interpret and analyze financial information.

  • Perform fiscal year-end close in the accounting system.

  • Assist with or reconcile bank statements as needed.

  • Reconcile investment statements.

  • Collaborate with various departments on accounting issues and queries.

  • Report fluctuations and variances.

  • Prepare clients' monthly accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports.

  • Assist in reconciling general ledger accounts as needed.

  • Archive clients' financial records for long-term storage and ensure records are complete.

  • Support the organizational structure of FPMR by attending staff meetings, participating in task forces, and assisting other staff members in a team atmosphere.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and ExperienceRequired

  • Associate degree in Accounting or a related field.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Specific Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, Ability to work from manual spreadsheets to computerized reports, Ability to make rational, well informed decisions, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with co-workers.
