Join the VEC as a Geospatial Analyst and play a key role in shaping electoral boundaries across Victoria. Working within a specialist Geospatial team, you will provide spatial analysis, boundary modelling and mapping expertise to support ward boundary reviews and help ensure fair and effective electoral representation for Victorian communities.

About this opportunity

Reporting directly to the Geospatial Operations Manager, this role is responsible for leading electoral boundary modelling and providing high level advice and analysis to the VEC's redistricting programs.

About the team

The Geospatial Team is responsible for providing mapping products and services to assist the VEC's electoral structural review and boundary modelling activities, election planning, conduct and review activities, and the maintenance of the register of electors.

A day in the life of a Geospatial Analyst

In this role, a typical day focuses on boundary modeling, spatial data maintenance and analysis, map creation, and quality assurance that supports the work of electoral boundary review activities.

You will support the delivery of ward boundary review program by providing high-quality advice and GIS expertise.

About you

• Providing effective spatial modelling and analysis in a fast-paced environment, including data preparation, validation and delivery of mapping products – both static and dynamic.

• Producing accurate and timely work to deliver outcomes aligned with the ward boundary review program schedule.

• Working collaboratively with others in the Geospatial team and wider electoral boundary review team and communicating clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

• Responding quickly to changing priorities, identifying and escalating routine issues or risks, and managing competing demands during peak periods.

• Working respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace.
