About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated graduate civil and structural engineer to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of high-quality engineering design for a broad range of civil and structural engineering projects. All work carried out in accordance with company ISO 9001 procedures.

This challenging and rewarding position requires an ambitious mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will primarily work on projects across the West of Ireland, with Galway / Castlebar as their local ORS office base. This provides the opportunity to lead and develop a strong regional project portfolio while working as part of ORSโ€™s wider multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects, including water resources, group water schemes, retail and residential developments.

  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other industry-standard tools.

  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support project designs and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to understand project needs and provide technical support.

  • Revise drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements.

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project progress and findings.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation.

  • Willingness and responsive to the demands and coordination of other design team professionals, clients and contractors.

Conduct site visits and surveys to gather data and assess project requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 8 qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent

  • A master's degree beneficial but not essential.

  • Experience working on a wide range of projects is beneficial.

  • You must also have strong working knowledge of the current Irish Building Regulations

  • Full working knowledge of British and Eurocode Design Standards for Concrete, Steel, Masonry and timber.

  • You must be proficient using AutoCAD/Revit and be capable of preparing detailed technical designs & drawings to an exceptional standard.

  • A good knowledge of Robot, Staad PRO-QSE or similar is essential.

  • Be able to prioritise, work to tight deadlines and deliver projects on time

  • Excellent written and verbal communication (fluent in English)

Self-motivated with great attention to detail and ability to research a subject
