Job description

Help build and operate the secure infrastructure that keeps mission-critical applications running reliably at scale. Join NS2 Mission as an Infrastructure Engineer in Chantilly, VA , where you'll support modern containerized environments and cloud infrastructure using DevSecOps practices, automation, and configuration-as-code.

Working alongside development, platform, and operations teams, you'll help build, secure, deploy, and sustain containerized workloads in a dynamic environment. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with Kubernetes, Helm, Linux, and container networking while helping improve the reliability, security, and repeatability of infrastructure supporting critical mission capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, secure, configure, and operate containerized workloads within dynamic production environments.

  • Support Kubernetes clusters, including cluster administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operations.

  • Develop and deploy Kubernetes workloads using Helm and established deployment practices.

  • Apply DevSecOps principles throughout the infrastructure lifecycle, including configuration management, configuration-as-code, and continuous delivery.

  • Automate infrastructure configuration and operational processes to improve consistency, security, and deployment efficiency.

  • Support Linux-based hosts and container environments, including networking, connectivity, and system-level troubleshooting.

  • Monitor infrastructure and application environments, identify issues, and support resolution of performance, availability, and configuration problems.

  • Collaborate with software developers, DevOps engineers, and systems teams to support application deployments and operational readiness.

  • Maintain configuration documentation, deployment procedures, and operational standards for infrastructure and container platforms.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on infrastructure reliability, security, automation, and scalability.

  • Support integration with distributed data and observability platforms as required, including technologies such as Apache Kafka and the Elastic Stack.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems engineering experience.

  • Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience applying DevSecOps principles, including configuration management, configuration-as-code, and continuous delivery.

  • Hands-on experience building, securing, deploying, and operating containers in a production or enterprise environment.

  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, including a fundamental understanding of Kubernetes architecture and how clusters operate.

  • Experience using and/or administering Kubernetes clusters.

  • Experience building and deploying Kubernetes workloads using Helm.

  • Understanding of container and Linux host networking concepts.

  • Strong Linux skills with the ability to troubleshoot operating system, networking, and container-related issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Apache Kafka or other distributed messaging and streaming platforms.

  • Experience supporting the Elastic Stack, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, or related technologies.

  • Experience automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and container orchestration platforms.

  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

  • Knowledge of cloud security, container security, and secure infrastructure design.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $131,644.00 to $190,789.00 . The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
