Job description

Help build the infrastructure behind high-volume, mission-critical data operations. Join NS2 Mission as an Infrastructure Engineer in Herndon, VA, where you'll design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud environments that support distributed applications and data-intensive workloads.

Working closely with software, platform, and DevOps teams, you'll use Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and modern observability tools to build resilient infrastructure, automate deployments, and improve system reliability. You'll also play an important role in ensuring services can communicate efficiently and remain highly available through thoughtful networking, messaging, monitoring, and operational practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure supporting high-volume data and application workloads.

  • Manage containerized environments using Kubernetes, including deployment, configuration, scaling, and operational support.

  • Build and optimize AWS infrastructure utilizing services such as EKS, EC2, and S3.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.

  • Develop and maintain reliable routing and DNS solutions to support distributed applications and high availability.

  • Configure and support messaging and event-streaming platforms such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities using tools such as Grafana to improve system visibility and operational awareness.

  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and continuous operational improvements.

  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and application issues and drive issues through resolution.

  • Apply cloud security and infrastructure best practices to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and ongoing platform optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Professional experience supporting infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production or enterprise environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of AWS, including services such as EKS, EC2, and S3.

  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or comparable tools.

  • Understanding of routing, DNS, and networking concepts within distributed environments.

  • Experience supporting messaging or streaming platforms such as RabbitMQ and/or Kafka.

  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability practices.

  • Understanding of modern DevOps methodologies and automated deployment practices.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure and operational issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and supporting scalable applications and infrastructure on Kubernetes.

  • Background supporting environments with high-volume data processing or alerting workloads.

  • Experience with Grafana or similar monitoring and visualization platforms.

  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices and secure infrastructure design.

  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.

  • Experience working in large-scale, complex, and fast-paced technical environments.

  • Familiarity with containerization, service-to-service communication, and distributed application architectures.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $131,644.00 to $190,789.00. The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
