Solutions Engineer – Infrastructure Sales & Development

Pxt Infrastructure Solutions, LLC | National — United States (HQ: Paramus, NJ)

Classification: Salaried, Exempt – Full-Time

Reports To: Head of Engineering & Construction

Works closely with: President, Chief Growth and Operations Officer on strategic pursuits and client development

About PxT Infrastructure Solutions

Pxt Infrastructure Solutions is a fast-growing, industry-leading EPC firm with a focus on eMobility and renewable infrastructure powering the future of clean transportation. We design, build, and deliver high-impact EV charging, battery energy storage (BESS), onsite generation and microgrid solutions for fleet operators, developers, and commercial clients nationally partnering with some of the most innovative organizations in the market.

As we continue to expand nationwide, we are seeking a highly organized, self-starting, and process-driven Solutions Engineer with a strong focus in Electric Vehicle infrastructure to support our growing national portfolio.

Position Summary

The Sales & Solutions Engineer owns the technical development and estimating of Pxt opportunities from initial qualification through proposal and award. The role translates customer requirements and incomplete site information into buildable, cost-effective solutions; develops the associated scope, estimate, schedule assumptions and proposal; and coordinates the technical inputs required from utilities, engineering, vendors and subcontractors. Following award, the Sales & Solutions Engineer leads a disciplined handoff to Engineering and Project Management while remaining available to support scope clarification and pricing.

Essential Functions

Solutions & Sales Engineering

  • Serve as the technical lead on pursuits nationwide including but not limited to client calls, site walks, and presentations where credibility wins deals

  • Translate client goals (fleet electrification, resiliency, energy cost reduction) into buildable concepts: charging and power configurations, service upgrades, load management, phasing, and alternates

  • Develop conceptual budgets and feasibility assessments from limited information (utility bills, single-lines, site photos)

Project Development

  • Drive utility coordination and interconnection strategy across service territories; evaluate capacity, timeline, and cost implications

  • Identify and factor in incentives, rebates, and utility make-ready programs that improve project economics

  • Assess AHJ and permitting pathways while evaluating their schedule and cost impacts on each opportunity early, before they become surprises

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Own estimates end-to-end: quantity takeoffs; labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing; and final bid assembly

  • Price prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon and Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliant scopes alongside open-shop work

  • Solicit, level, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes

  • Prepare clear, professional proposals with well-defined scope, clarifications, and exclusions

  • Support handoff to project management and construction; assist with change order pricing; maintain the cost database and win/loss feedback loop

  • Develop ROM, budgetary and firm proposals, clearly identifying the level of design information supporting each estimate

  • Develop and document assumptions, exclusions, allowances and project risks

  • Comparison of subcontractor/vendor pricing against internal historical cost data

  • Internal estimate review prior to proposal issuance

  • Estimate-to-actual feedback with Project Management after award

Opportunity Ownership & Handoff

· Maintain ownership of the technical and commercial basis of each opportunity through proposal, award, and transition to execution

· Lead a documented handoff to Engineering and Project Management upon award, ensuring alignment on project scope, estimate, assumptions, clarifications and exclusions, subcontractor/vendor commitments, schedule assumptions, utility status, permitting strategy, and identified project risks

· Clearly communicate outstanding technical, commercial, or scope items requiring resolution following award

· Remain available during project execution to support scope clarification, estimate reconciliation, change pricing, and resolution of issues related to the original proposal and project assumptions

· Participate in estimate-to-actual reviews with Project Management to improve estimating accuracy, cost data, and future proposal development

Required Competencies

  • 10+ years in electrical contracting — estimating, project management, or field leadership on commercial/industrial electrical work

  • EV charging (L2 / DCFC), BESS, solar, generation, or microgrid project experience

  • Strong working knowledge of the NEC, electrical means and methods, and service/distribution design

  • Proven estimating ability: takeoffs, labor units, material pricing, and margin strategy

  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, site/civil plans, and specifications

  • Comfort working across multiple utility territories, jurisdictions, and labor markets

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and estimating tools, ability to review and markup CAD/design documents; strong Excel skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to clients and owners

  • A demonstrated record of creative problem solving — finding buildable, cost-effective answers where the standard approach doesn't fit

· Understanding of services, distribution systems, transformers, SLD’s and schematics

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally to project sites and client meetings

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-site or national deployment programs

  • Medium-voltage and utility service upgrade experience

  • Journeyman or master electrician license, or a degree in electrical engineering / construction management

  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and incentive or make-ready programs

  • Experience with CRM and construction management platforms, including hands-on Procore experience managing project documentation and workflows
