INSPECTOR IV

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

In our organization, Inspector IV has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments by safely performing all facets of dimensional and non-destructive inspections and/or testing to determine if the parts received qualify for acceptance according to criteria as documented in the Engineering Drawings or established by Customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Select and effectively use appropriate inspection methods and equipment – including calipers, micrometers, gauges, FARO Arms or CMMs – to safely and efficiently perform inspections and testing. Responsibilities include programming the advanced measuring instruments (FARO, CMM), selection, and use of appropriate tooling/fixturing.

  • Assist the Quality Control Supervisor with planning and assigning work tasks, training of inspection personnel with all aspects of the inspection process including but not limited to FARO Arm and CMM operations.

  • Create, process, and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records and nonconformance reports (NCPs); evaluate nonconforming products and initiate NCPs as required.

  • Assist in the coordination of NDE activities for the OSI-OKC Piper facility to include but not limited to services provided by external NDE suppliers both on and offsite. Perform all facets of the OSI-OKC Piper Liquid Penetrant testing including application and evaluation.

  • Review purchase orders requirements against supplied documents and products, i.e., Material Test Reports, NDE reports, quantity, condition, etc., to ensure product meets or exceeds specified requirements.

  • Perform inspections and tests with extremely high accuracy to confirm received parts are within tolerances established by the appropriate Engineering drawing.

  • Assist in the implementation of new work processes to streamline all elements of production while assuring complete compliance with HSE and OSHA policies and practices.

  • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with OSI-OKC Piper calibration activities and training.

  • Verify all testing equipment is calibrated and in active status prior to any inspection or test being performed.

  • Create and/or process inspection reports, work with the Quality and Engineering departments on any inspection requests.

  • Develop and generate CMM programs for efficient and precise CMM component inspections for new and existing components.

  • Develop and maintain setup processes and CMM fixtures to facilitate highly accurate and consistent component inspections.

  • Continuously review and improve CMM programs to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure inspection records are accurate, complete, and stored according to established departmental procedures.

  • Safely, effectively, and efficiently perform testing duties with nearly 100% accuracy.

  • Perform other inspection duties during automated cycles when safe and practical.

  • Apply concepts of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) as needed.

  • Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.

  • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time.

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.

  • Follow and support established HSE programs.

  • Report any unsafe situations to appropriate Management Team member if necessary.

  • All other duties or tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of Quality Standards such as API and ISO.

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with nearly 100% accuracy on an ongoing basis.

  • Ability to read and understand measuring devices including but not limited to digital or dial calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.

  • Ability to use and apply basic math calculations such as fractions, decimals, and angles.

  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions, procedures, and documents.

  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with people.

  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to speak, write and read English.

  • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.

  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • At least five (5) years of direct experience in a Quality Inspection role.

  • At least two (2) years of direct experience in NDE/NDT methods and evaluation.

  • Prior experience programming and operating a Zeiss Spectrum CMM utilizing Zeiss Calypso software is preferred.

  • Must be able to pass a vision acuity test (corrective lenses allowed).

  • Must obtain and maintain Liquid Penetrant Testing Certification.

  • Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certification to operate Class I forklifts.

  • Must obtain and maintain active OSI-OKC Piper certifications to operate cranes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Extended walking, sitting, and/or standing.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Frequent use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, and printer.

  • Frequent use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to document control software, employee time tracking software, and office productivity software packages.

  • Frequent use of various measuring tools including but not limited to digital or dial calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.

  • Periodic use of overhead cranes and other lifting devices including but not limited to ½-ton cranes, 1-ton cranes, 5-ton cranes, and associated rigging.

  • Periodic use of Class I forklifts.

QUALITY/CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPLICATIONS

  • Directly impacts workplace safety through active participation in OSI-OKC Piper HSE programs and safe work practices.

  • Indirectly impacts first pass test percentage, on time delivery, and customer satisfaction through highly effective and detailed inspections of components prior to them being released for assembly.

  • Indirectly impacts customer satisfaction through quality of finished product and on-time delivery.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
