Journeyman - Full stack developer

Security Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance Required Work Location: On-Site, St Louis, MO

Job Type: Full-Time D2 Government Solutions is seeking a motivated and experienced Software Developer / DevSecOps Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of mission-critical maritime systems software. The successful candidate will work within an Agile development environment, leveraging DevSecOps best practices to design, develop, test, and sustain software solutions supporting Department of Defense operations.

This position requires a strong technical foundation in modern software development, cloud computing, and system sustainment while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable and secure software products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, test, and maintain software applications and system enhancements.

  • Perform adaptive, corrective, preventive, and perfective software maintenance activities.

  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, peer reviews, code reviews, and testing activities.

  • Develop and maintain automated testing solutions within a DevSecOps framework.

  • Analyze software requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Support software integration, deployment, and sustainment activities.

  • Identify software, hardware, and infrastructure dependencies and capacity requirements.

  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.

  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and engineering artifacts.

  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements and software development best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant software development or software integration experience.

  • Experience developing solutions in cloud-based or service-oriented environments.

  • Working knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and cloud architecture principles.

  • Understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps methodologies and workflows.

  • Knowledge of software architecture, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and software sustainment practices.

  • Experience with:

    • Vue.js

    • Node.js

    • PostgreSQL

  • Experience using source control tools such as Git, GitLab, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, S3, Reserved Instances, and related technologies.

  • Experience creating system engineering documentation, including design diagrams and technical design documents.

  • Working knowledge of collaboration and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Rocket.Chat.

  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility after hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 baseline certification such as Security+ CE or higher.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including:

    • Docker

    • ECS

    • EKS

    • Fargate

    • AKS

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or national security programs.

  • Familiarity with secure software development and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
