Job description
Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Company's accounting operations. This position performs and assists with general ledger activities, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable reconciliation, budgeting, cash management, and other accounting functions.
The Junior Accountant also analyzes financial information, assists with month-end and year-end close, and identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.

Perform general ledger and bank account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.

Analyze monthly income and expense variances and investigate significant discrepancies.

Review and process accounts payable invoices in accordance with established procedures.

Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.

Reconcile accounts receivable deposits, billing spreadsheets, and applicable accounting/billing system reports.

Work with the Billing Department to research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.

Record and monitor daily cash activity and balances.

Prepare cash flow reports and assist with cash transfers, ACH payments, and wire payments.

Monitor loans, leases, and other financial obligations.

Coordinate and reconcile intercompany transactions.

Prepare invoices and related journal entries for professional fees, management fees, and miscellaneous charges.

Assist with the preparation and distribution of Forms 1099 and other required tax documentation.

Review accounting procedures and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Assist with accounting software upgrades, projects, and other departmental initiatives.

Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential financial records.

Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.

Minimum of one (1) year of relevant accounting experience preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Experience with Microsoft Great Plains or similar accounting software preferred.

Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.

Work Location: In person
