Junior Data Engineer

Role: Junior Data Engineer

Client: Capital One (Prior Capital One experience required)

Compensation: $35/hr on W2

Experience Level: 3–5 years

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer with prior experience working within Capital One to join an established data engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

-Write clean, efficient, functional Python code for data pipelines and automation.

-Work within Databricks and Snowflake environments to process and manage datasets.

-Read, interpret, and maintain basic Bash/shell scripts.

-Collaborate with senior engineers to implement data solutions while adhering to strict financial data security standards.

-Balance guidance with autonomy: take clear direction, ask the right questions, and run with execution.

Required Qualifications

-Prior Capital One experience is mandatory (familiarity with internal tools, security frameworks, and environments).

-3–5 years of hands-on data engineering or technical experience.

-Strong Python proficiency: Heavy emphasis on functional programming and writing maintainable code (Python is primary; minimal SQL is needed for this specific team).

-Practical experience with Databricks and Snowflake.

-Ability to read and understand Bash scripts.

-Strong appetite to learn, receive feedback, and grow within a fast-moving team.
