Job description

** About the role **

** We're looking for a builder who wants to ship an app people actually train with. **

We're building a training app that makes the gear people already own more useful. Our visionary built the working version with Claude Code, and it's in private TestFlight testing now. You'll help improve it and get it released, working directly with the founder and alongside our data and ML specialist. You'll build complete features across the app and the backend, and prove they work on real phones.

This is a ** new grad role ** . You don't need years of experience. You need to have actually built things, and you need to be fast.

**

What's in it for you **

  • ** This is a 6-month contract role ending in March 2027, with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance and business needs **

  • CAD $55,000–$60,000 base salary

  • Health Spending Account

  • A Calgary office you'll actually want to come into

  • Employee discounts on all our gear

  • Access to our staff gym

  • A team that actually likes what they do

**

The schedule & location **

This is a ** hybrid ** role based at our Calgary location, where the core hours are ** Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm **

**

The non-negotiables **

** You build with Claude Code every day, and you check its work. ** Not "I've heard of it." Not "I've watched videos." You're living in it: you've hit the walls and figured out workarounds. You can explain every change you hand us, and you've tested it.

** You lift. ** You know sets, reps, RPE, progression and rest periods, and you're at home around barbells, racks, benches, dumbbells and cable machines. No coaching cert needed. You'll build better workout screens if you've used one mid-set.

** You're in Calgary. ** You live here or you'll move here before your start date. The job is hybrid but you are expected to come on-site around 3 times a week to work with our equipment, coaches and product team, so remote from another city or country won't work.

**

What you'll do **

  • Build scoped features and fixes in React Native/Expo and TypeScript, on Supabase/Postgres and local storage

  • Improve the workout flows people use every day: logging sets and RPE, timers, equipment setup, workout history and sync

  • Make API and data changes without crossing account boundaries or losing data after offline use, interruptions or restarts

  • Hand in changes that are easy to review: focused tests, a working demo and proof it runs on a real device. Help get TestFlight and Android releases ready

  • Work with the data and ML specialist on sensor and coaching screens, including manual controls and what happens when data is missing

  • Work under the guidance of our 2 biomechanical engineers on the biomechanics side of things

**

What Success Looks Like **

  • ** Day 30: ** you know the codebase and you've shipped a small improvement through review

  • ** Day 60: ** you're delivering app and backend changes with tests and real-device evidence

  • ** Day 90: ** you own a defined area of the app and you're helping build a sensor or coaching pilot once the research supports it

  • Architecture, database changes, production access and releases get reviewed with the founder before they go live. Your scope grows as you show good judgment

**

What We're Looking For **

  • JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTTP APIs and relational databases, plus Git and debugging

  • One working app or meaningful project you can demo and explain. ** New grads and people with up to about 2 years of experience welcome **

  • You test on real phones, reproduce bugs carefully, and ask for help before a blocker turns into a missed deadline

  • You care about clean interfaces, accessibility, maintainable code, and the people whose workout history we're storing

  • Experience with iOS and Android development

**

Bonus Points **

  • React Native/Expo

  • SQL/Postgres and authentication

  • Automated testing and offline data

  • Experience with BLE capture

  • A relevant degree or diploma

  • You don't need to have launched an app on your own, and you don't need to know ML.

**

  • We care more about what you've built than where you learned it. ***

**

The Interview ProcessĀ  **

  • 30 minute screening with our HR Coordinator

  • 1 hour screening with our hiring team

  • Paid, time-bound technical assessment

  • 1 hour technical follow-up to discuss assessment

  • Decision made and offer sent out
