Junior Linux / Cloud Systems Engineer

Job Summary (Junior Linux / Cloud Systems Engineer): Philadelphia, PA

• Position: 12-Month Contract (Potential for extension or permanent conversion)

• Location: Greater Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid; 3 days onsite: Tues/Wed/Thurs; must currently live within commuting distance)

• Background Check: 10-year screen, drug test, and fingerprinting required

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain a business-critical payment processing platform in a financial services environment

• Work within a small platform team, collaborating daily with cloud ops, cybersecurity, networking, and application groups

• Ensure day-to-day platform reliability and participate in progressive automation efforts

• Respond to production alerts and participate in on-call rotation

• Gradually take ownership of operational load, transitioning toward automation and engineering tasks

Core Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Linux OS fundamentals (command line, logs, processes, services, permissions, file systems, system health)

• Working understanding of cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS; knowledge of compute, networking, access controls)

• Ability to write/read basic automation scripts (Python or shell scripting preferred)

• Familiarity with source control tools and basic understanding of build/release pipelines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Willingness to operate in an operational (not purely development) environment

• Bachelor s in a technical discipline or equivalent hands-on experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to regulated environments (banking, payments, insurance, etc.) with change control and audit requirements

• Experience: 0 3 years hands-on, including internships, labs, academic projects, or home labs

• Industry backgrounds: Financial services, healthcare IT, telecom, managed services, data centers, university research computing
