Job description

About the Company

Beaver Process Equipment is a fast-growing Australian OEM specialising in the design and manufacture of high-performance slurry piping systems and process equipment for the mining and resources industries.

We are committed to engineering quality, product innovation and continuous improvement, delivering reliable solutions to customers in Australia and globally.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Perth team.

This role offers exposure across product engineering, mechanical design, technical estimating and pre-production engineering. You’ll work closely with our engineering and operational teams, developing practical experience across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and configure mechanical equipment and components for slurry and process piping systems, including hoses, lined pipe and spool assemblies, selecting materials, end connections, flange standards and dimensions to suit operating pressures and service conditions.

  • Develop manufacturing specifications for standard and custom products, determining materials, components, bend geometry and manufacturable lengths.

  • Apply engineering principles, Australian and international standards and safety requirements (pressure ratings, flange classes, welding requirements) in design, and specify quality control, testing and inspection requirements.

  • Carry out engineering calculations and design checks to verify that designs meet customer specifications and operating conditions.

  • Review customer piping specifications, isometric drawings and technical requirements, identify gaps, and determine the engineering solution.

  • Assess designs for manufacturability and technical compliance and design custom tooling (such as hose mandrels) from concept through to manufacture and client approval.

  • Use 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD) to model and validate designs, and release the resulting drawings, bills of materials and pre-production documentation to the workshop.

  • Lead engineering investigations, problem solving and continuous improvement on products and manufacturing processes, including developing engineering tools that improve the accuracy and speed of technical decisions.

  • Coordinate technical requirements with fabricators, suppliers and the workshop, and verify that manufactured and installed products meet design intent.

  • Attend client sites to review field applications, take field measurements (including laser scanning) and verify installations against design.

  • Provide engineering input to clients and to quotations and tenders, including technical estimates of materials and manufacturing requirements for complex projects.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • At least 2 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.

  • Experience with slurry or process piping systems and associated components is highly regarded.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or AutoCAD as a design tool.

  • Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles, design calculations and relevant standards, and the ability to apply them to piping specifications.

  • Practical interest in product engineering, manufacturing and problem-solving.

  • Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.

Experience within the mining, mineral processing or manufacturing industries is highly regarded.

Why Join Us

  • Gain experience across design, engineering and manufacturing.

  • Work on products used throughout the mining and resources industries.

  • Develop broad engineering capability with multiple career pathways.

  • Join a growing Australian business with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Work within a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
