Job description

Who we are

OktoRocket, LLC is a Tennessee based software company specializing in sales and service analytics and industry focused phone systems that help our clients exceed goals and engage with their customers. Why "OktoRocket"? Our solutions help our customers rocket past their goals while bringing together the tools they need into one platform to do more, quickly and easily.

The role

We're hiring a Junior QA Automation Engineer to be the last line of defense before our code ships to production. Every meaningful change to our platform passes through you: you'll verify it against acceptance criteria, catch regressions, and give the green light to deploy.

We build with AI. Agentic development has sped up our dev cycles, which means more code moving faster, which means we need testing to keep pace. You'll use AI tools yourself to test at that speed, and you'll be testing code that was written with heavy AI assistance. Comfort with AI is not optional here. It's central to how the job works and how fast you'll grow.

This is also a launch pad. We hire QA engineers as future developers. You'll learn our codebase from the inside out by testing it, and as you demonstrate ownership and skill, we'll grow you toward a full development role. If you want to write production code and you're willing to earn it by first understanding how the whole system works, this is the seat.

You'll build automation with Playwright, Jest, and .NET test frameworks, and over time take on more of our testing strategy, our automation platforms (Zapier, Zoho), and DevOps and reliability work.

What you'll do

  • Test code changes against acceptance criteria before they ship, and sign off on releases

  • Use AI tools to keep testing throughput matched to an AI-accelerated dev cycle, and apply extra scrutiny to AI-generated code

  • Catch regressions before customers do, across our phone, CRM, and analytics products

  • Build and maintain end to end and UI tests with Playwright

  • Write unit and integration tests for the frontend with Jest

  • Write backend and integration tests with .NET test frameworks (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest, or similar)

  • Work with product and engineering to turn requirements into testable scenarios and clear acceptance criteria

  • Proactively find edge cases and risk areas before and during implementation

  • Communicate test results and quality risks in plain, business friendly language

  • Run smoke checks and health checks after deployment

What you'll grow into

  • Owning larger parts of our test automation strategy: structure, naming, fixtures, test data, tagging, and reporting

  • Integrating automated tests into CI/CD so they run on every build and deploy, and helping build the quality gates

  • Taking over our Zapier and Zoho automations, with tests and monitoring around them

  • Defining quality metrics (coverage, failure rates, build health) and surfacing them in dashboards

  • Developing DevOps and Site Reliability skills, and eventually moving toward a development role

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Some experience writing code in TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, or a similar language, through projects, internships, or coursework

  • Understanding of core testing concepts (regression, smoke, negative testing, test data, assertions)

  • Basic familiarity with web applications (HTTP, APIs, frontend vs backend, databases)

  • Strong analytical instincts. You naturally think in terms of "what could break?"

  • Real comfort with AI tools. You already reach for them in your own work, and you're sharp about where AI-generated code needs a closer look. As you grow into development here, you'll be building agentically, so this fluency compounds

  • Curiosity to understand how the whole system works, not just whether a test passes. This is the trait that turns a good tester into a good developer

  • Comfort working with both technical and non technical people, and a habit of asking clarifying questions

*Bonus if you have any exposure to or curiosity about telephony, real time or async systems, or multi tenant platforms. It's not required, but it's the kind of thinking that makes you effective here fast.

Company culture

We value hard work, humor, integrity, creativity, and positivity. We're growing rapidly and have an exciting future ahead. We need people who are ready to jump on board, dig in on day one, and bring their talents to the table.

FIND A WAY

We're problem solvers who take ownership from first awareness to final resolution. We're resourceful and persistent.

When something needs doing, we figure it out and see it through.

CUSTOMER FIRST, TEAM ALWAYS

We go the extra mile for customers but never at the cost of our people's dignity or well-being.

NEVER TO BIG TO CARE

We're accessible, responsive, and personal. Our customers know us, and we know them.

MAKE EACH OTHER BETTER

We speak up with positive intent, even when it’s uncomfortable. We encourage, we support, and we think beyond our own role. When one of us wins, we all win.

Career growth

  • Grow from testing code to writing it. We use this role to develop our future developers

  • Become the internal go to for Playwright, Jest, .NET testing, and testing best practices

  • Take ownership of automation platforms (Zapier, Zoho) and influence how we connect systems and processes

  • Build skills in DevOps and Site Reliability (CI/CD, monitoring, quality gates, release safety)

  • Influence how we define "done" and "high quality" across teams

Benefits (the good stuff)

  • Real opportunities for growth and advancement. We love seeing our team members succeed

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Allotted WFH days

  • Retirement with company match

  • Paid time off and paid holidays

  • Company paid life insurance and long term disability

  • Short term disability

  • Critical illness and accident coverage

  • Employee Assistance Program
