Lead Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled

Lead Data Engineer

to join a prestigious federal government client on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced data professionals to lead innovative data solutions and make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.

Position Details

• Contract Duration: 12 months, with a potential extension of an additional 12 months

• Work Week: 37.5 hours

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of data warehouse platforms

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to data teams

• Drive data integration projects and ensure system performance

• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop scalable data solutions

Essential Criteria

• MS SQL / Teradata /Snowflake / Redshift / Databricks – Demonstrated competency in developing, auditing and reviewing code in 2 out of the 5 Data Warehouses listed.

• High level of competency in Programming, including knowledge of supplementary programming languages such as Python, SAS, R or Java.

• Strong expertise with SQL, including experience with reverse-engineering end user SQL code.

• Ability to read and interpret data models and specifications.

• Ability to understand DevOps process and can use DevOps tools in accordance with the process.

• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of version controls and its appropriate uses.

Desirable criteria

• Minimum of 4 years in a similar role.

• Exposure to AWS Cloud, AWS S3, AWS Glue or similar tools within the cloud environment.

• Competency with required systems, software and programs, including SAS and Excel.

• Demonstrated experience data modelling using metadata/model driven frameworks.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

• Certifications in cloud platforms, data management, or related areas are advantageous
