LEAD MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design and engineering activities for permanent buildings and temporary facilities. The role covers HVAC, plumbing, piping, and firefighting systems, from concept design and detailed engineering to site supervision, testing, commissioning, and authority approvals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee mechanical design activities for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and firefighting systems.

• Review and approve design calculations, technical drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and engineering documents.

• Manage mechanical systems for permanent buildings and temporary facilities, including site offices and worker accommodations.

• Ensure compliance with applicable UAE authority requirements, including ADCD, DCD, DEWA, ADDC, and municipality regulations, as applicable.

• Coordinate with civil, architectural, structural, and electrical teams to resolve design clashes and minimise site rework.

• Supervise site installations, conduct inspections, and resolve technical issues.

• Lead testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems.

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and IPC.

• Manage and mentor mechanical design engineers, allocate tasks, and monitor project deliverables.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure timely approvals and project completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• 10–15+ years of experience in mechanical building services design and engineering.

• Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and firefighting system design.

• Experience in HVAC load calculations, pump head calculations, fire hydraulics, pipe and duct sizing, and equipment selection.

• Knowledge of chilled water systems, ventilation, smoke management, drainage, and fire protection systems.

• Experience in site supervision, testing and commissioning, and UAE authority approvals.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM/Revit.

• Strong leadership, coordination, technical problem-solving, and communication skills.

• UAE/GCC project experience is preferred.

Pay: AED18,000.00 - AED22,000.00 per month
