Job description

LendingPad is a fast-growing Loan Origination System (LOS) built for the modern mortgage institution. The suite of products includes a point of sale (POS), document solution, API, and other mortgage-origination related products. Our goal is to provide a scalable, efficient, and compliant software solution to meet the needs of today’s demands.

Job Description:

Join a fast-growing fintech provider in lending as a Lead Software Engineer - working closely with requirement analysts and operations teams to develop, test, and support a mortgage lending application. You will be required to complete assigned tasks in a fast-paced, agile environment. This is a full-time position.

Requirements:

  • 13+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise web applications with a strong understanding of OOP and SOLID principles.

  • Deep knowledge of C#, .Net, LINQ, experience in NoSQL and SQL databases technologies, experience in JavaScript/AngularJS/Angular, HTML5, CSS3, and development/source control tools such as Visual Studio, Git, and Jira.

  • Demonstrated understanding of standard security practices and tools.

  • Ability to understand the architecture thought process

  • Willingness to learn and work hard

  • Be ready to re-do the code due to requirements or comments of a core reviewer

  • Ability to accept other’s point of view even if it is different from his own

  • Be focused and attentive to details

  • Constantly analyze and remember the solutions that were applied to previous issues

  • Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), presentation skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong work ethics, a passion for excellence and a desire to continuously learning/improving your skills are a must.

**Candidate will be given a sample task to complete to demonstrate the skills and knowledge. **

Duties:

This is a hands-on engineering role. Roughly 70% of your time is spent building; the remaining 30% is spent leading a team of up to two developers and working alongside QA.

ENGINEERING

· Design and build features across the LendingPad platform, consistent with existing architecture and established patterns.

· Own the technical breakdown for the team's work: implementation approach and rejected alternatives, scope boundaries and exclusions, data and schema changes, integration impact, affected portals and company types, risks and unknowns, and the agreed test approach.

· Produce the effort estimate the task is scheduled against, together with the developer who will do the work, and reconcile with Product when a revised estimate moves more than 30%.

· Act as first code reviewer on the team's work, with a first response inside one business day.

· Sign off implementation plans where CTO sign-off is not required, accepting accountability for the quality of the plan.

· Author infrastructure and technical debt work against the department's protected capacity, with a written problem statement and a testable definition of done.

LEADING THE TEAM

· Run daily oversight of the team — roughly fifteen minutes on the board, then act on what it shows.

· Respond to defined triggers rather than waiting for a status report: no progress logged for two days, a blocked flag within four working hours, spent time at 75% of estimate with progress under 50%, elapsed time past 1.5x estimate, and a third return from code review or QA.

· Conduct a mid-point review on any task estimated at more than three days — a check that the implementation is going where the breakdown said it would.

· Verify readiness before a task starts and return incomplete work with the specific missing item named.

· Pull the next piece of work from the ranked queue as developers become free, and intervene where a developer is holding three or more returned items.

· Work with each developer on estimate accuracy, review responsiveness, and how early problems get surfaced. With a team this size, this is a continuous conversation rather than a review cycle.

WORKING WITH PRODUCT

· Talk directly with Product Managers during definition and estimation — understand the problem before proposing the solution, and surface what is observable but unspecified.

· Hold the line between requirement and implementation: Product decides what the system does, Engineering decides how it is built, and changes to anything a partner already depends on are decided jointly.

· Attend the twice-weekly review and bring due-date risk, overruns, and blocked work — each with the decision needed, not only the problem.

· Escalate to the CTO where scope, estimate, or priority does not converge.

PRODUCTION SUPPORT

· Own hotfix triage: on a Severity 1, triage and assign within thirty minutes, including deciding who stops what they are doing; Severity 2 within the working day.

· Select the developers and approvers on a hotfix and move it straight into development.

· Create the follow-up task immediately where a hotfix only patches the problem, while the cause is still fresh.

· Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, .Net ASP.NET Web API, and related frameworks.

· Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following coding standards and best practices.

· Perform system analysis, requirements gathering, and technical design in collaboration with business analysts and stakeholders.

· Develop RESTful APIs, web services, and backend components to support business applications.

· Implement changes in the database structure, including writing queries, patches, and optimizing performance.

· Do code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure software quality.

· Mentor other developers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

· Ensure applications follow security, scalability, and performance best practices.

· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, system specifications.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (MBA a plus)

Schedule:
