Job description

10+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development, DevOps transformation, and modernization initiatives with strong hands-on expertise in IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), CI/CD automation, and Git-based development practices.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, z/OS, TSO/ISPF, USS, and Mainframe application development.

  • Hands-on experience with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB) for build automation and dependency management.

  • Experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or similar source code management platforms.

  • Strong understanding of Mainframe DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile development practices.

  • Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD orchestration tools.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Groovy scripting and YAML-based pipeline development.

  • Experience with Python, REXX, or Shell scripting for automation and tooling.

  • Knowledge of build automation, deployment automation, and release management processes.

  • Familiarity with Endevor, Changeman, or other Mainframe SCM tools.

  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, Zowe, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), and z/OS Connect.

  • Experience working in Mainframe Modernization, Git adoption, or DevOps transformation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated build solutions using IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB).

  • Implement and support Git-based development workflows for Mainframe applications.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.

  • Configure and optimize dependency analysis, impact analysis, and incremental build processes using DBB.

  • Integrate DBB with Git repositories, SCM tools, and enterprise DevOps toolchains.

  • Automate build, test, deployment, and release processes using Groovy, Python, REXX, and Shell scripting.

  • Support SCM migration initiatives from Endevor/Changeman to Git-based source code management systems.

  • Collaborate with Development, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams to implement modern engineering practices.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, build frameworks, standards, and operational procedures.

  • Support Mainframe Modernization and Digital Transformation programs through automation and DevOps adoption.

  • Troubleshoot build, deployment, and pipeline issues across development and test environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong experience with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB) implementation and administration.

  • Experience with UrbanCode Deploy (UCD) or equivalent deployment automation tools.

  • Experience supporting Endevor-to-Git or SCM modernization initiatives.

  • Exposure to Zowe CLI, VS Code for Z, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), and modern developer tooling.

  • Knowledge of Mainframe DevOps, GitOps, and CI/CD best practices.

  • Experience working on large-scale Mainframe Modernization and Transformation programs.

Pay: $60.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
