Job description

About us

Leichhardt is an independent, Australian-owned solar salt project headquartered in Perth with operations in northern Western Australia. Our sites include the Lake MacLeod operations near Carnarvon and the Eramurra Project, 55km outside of Karratha.

Our mission is to create successful solar salt projects that are respected by our internal stakeholders as well as the communities in which we operate. With a social responsibility and sustainability focus, Leichhardt is driving innovation in the Australian salt landscape with a world class hi-spec, low-cost solar salt.

Leichhardt also produces gypsum, predominantly exported to the Asia-Pacific region. Our gypsum operation includes excavation and water leaching to produce a plasterboard and cement grade product.

We value diversity, openness, and collaboration. We like to empower our people so they can make meaningful contributions and be impactful. If you have shared values and appreciate a work environment that supports your growth, come and join us on an exciting journey.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Marketing Manager (Salt and Gypsum) to drive sales and manage customer accounts across our international export markets, primarily in Asia, and domestic Australian industrial sectors. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a commercially focused role where you will grow our salt and gypsum portfolio, gather market intelligence and oversee end-to-end bulk shipping and logistics, including international trade finance terms and letters of credit.

Working in our Subiaco office, this role offers the opportunity to build long-term relationships with major industrial buyers across Australia and Asia, making it an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a background in bulk commodities or industrial minerals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage sales pipelines and spot orders with chemical, food-grade and industrial salt customers across key Asian markets and the Australian domestic market

  • Grow long-term off-take and bulk supply relationships with plasterboard manufacturers and cement producers in Australia and Asia

  • Identify and capture new domestic and export segments, including agricultural stockfeed, water treatment and specialised industrial applications

  • Lead commercial bidding, price-per-tonne quoting and contract renewals in partnership with the CFO

  • Communicate the technical advantages of our products to industrial buyers and quality assurance teams

  • Monitor competitor activity, regional pricing, trade flows and demand trends, providing data-driven market insights to the business

  • Coordinate high-volume bulk shipping, including vessel charters, port scheduling and laycan windows, to ensure supply continuity and minimise demurrage risk

  • Manage cross-border commercial execution, including letters of credit, pro-forma invoices, sales contracts and export documentation.

A full position description will be provided at the interview.

What we are looking for:

To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills, attributes and experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Economics or a related field

  • 10+ years' experience in B2B industrial sales, trade coordination or commercial execution, ideally in bulk commodities, industrial minerals, chemicals or heavy bulk logistics

  • Proven working knowledge of international trade finance and letters of credit

  • Strong understanding of bulk shipping terminology, Incoterms (FOB, CIF, CFR) and laytime/demurrage rules

  • Ability to travel domestically within Australia and occasionally into the Asian region (approx. 20?30%) for client site visits, port audits, or trade conferences.

  • Strong analytical skills, including market research and data analysis in Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a high attention to detail.

It will also be highly regarded if you have:

  • Understanding of the Asia-Pacific export landscape

  • Knowledge of the Western Australian heavy industrial supply chain and port logistics.

Why join us:

  • Exposure to international markets and customers

  • Competitive remuneration package and long-term career development opportunities

  • An opportunity to contribute to a growing, respected WA-based mining company with a strong safety and team culture.

We are excited about growing the Leichhardt team, we have a great team culture where we all look after each other. If this sounds like a journey you would like to be a part of, we would love to hear from you.
