Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic
Mechanical Design Engineer
to contribute to the
Net Zero Teesside
(NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland, or across our Offices in Maxim, Newcastle or Warrington.
What you'll be doing
To provide ventilation design solutions and to ensure that ventilation design deliverables and procurement of ventilation packages are created and delivered to meet project requirements.

Aid Design Engineering Manager and other Engineers with estimates

Reporting on specific design projects to Principal Design Engineer

D&E Manager, D&E Team, Site Project Teams, Work Winning Teams, BIM and
CAD Team
External:
Customers, Consultants and Supply Chain
Accountabilities

Create mechanical ventilation design deliverables for both low and high integrity ductwork systems

Input to process, heat exchanger, treatment plant and prime mover specifications and design

Review and check vendor documentation for mechanical compliance with project specifications

Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments

Communicate residual design risks to others
-
Provide strong technical support and identify innovative and robust solutions
-
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers
-
Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure that the business stream is at the forefront of the industry
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities And Experience
-
Competent in the use of the 3-D solid modelling software Revit and 2-D drawing software AutoCAD
-
Able to perform calculations related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning and the fluid flow through such systems
-
Competent in the use of OpenBuildings designer (previously Hevacomp) or similar software related to HVAC systems
-
Clear focus on collaboration and building relationships with other engineers and project teams to deliver cost effective and acceptable engineering solutions

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and write clearly and succinctly
-
Excellent IT Skills are desirable, and Microsoft Office is essential. Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material

Experience in a broad range of heavy industries such as petrochemical, power generation and nuclear

Experience and knowledge of PPMOF (Pre-Assembly, Pre-Fabrication Modularisation and Offsite) construction
