Job description
Job Specification - Mechanical Design Engineer
SiriusXT is a high-tech start-up that is leveraging patented IP in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light source design. This IP is being harnessed to build a unique lab-scale soft x-ray imaging microscope, capable of generating 3D imaging of individual cells. With the launch of its first-generation product, SiriusXT is targeting a large global market of disease and drug research organisations. Since its formation in 2015, SiriusXT has won numerous national and EU awards for its technology and is now fulfilling orders from the leading research institutes in biological imaging. The organisation is now seeking to grow its capacity with the recruitment of agile and hard-working staff who have the ambition to grow their careers as the company grows.
The role offers the opportunity to employ the full skillset of a talented engineer. The successful candidate will be working on developing very high precision electro-mechanical / optical assemblies in a vacuum and cryogenic environments. They will contribute to delivering first of its kind technology and the role will afford ample opportunity to implement meaningful design change as we move into commercialisation of our technology. The ideal candidate will have a mix of skills with a strong foundation from first principles in solid mechanics, thermodynamics and materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The position will report into the companyâs Engineering Manager and the ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for fully-reasoned mechanical design. The role will involve:
â˘Â Design of mechanical equipment to specific requirements
â˘Â Analysis of problems and associated root cause analyses.
â˘Â  Ensuring that all engineering documentation created as part of tasks meet the requirements of internal procedures & timelines. This includes CAD, engineering drawings, BOMs, Technical Specifications, test plans and other program deliverables
â˘Â Ensure that design outputs comply with all relevant design specifications via well-presented calculations.
