Mobile Engineer (iOS / Android)
Evlo AI
Job description
About The Role
The role focuses on building and shipping native mobile experiences for iOS and Android that serve millions of daily active users. Day-to-day work spans Swift/Kotlin application development, offline-first architecture, push notification and deep-linking systems, and tight integration with backend APIs.
This is a hands-on product engineering position on a small, senior mobile team. The role has direct ownership over feature delivery and app performance โ crash-free session rates, cold start times, and release cadence are metrics that matter here.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design, build, and ship user-facing features natively in Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android) as part of a bi-weekly release cycle
-
Architect and maintain offline-first data layers using local persistence (Core Data, Room, SQLite) with sync against REST and GraphQL backends
-
Own app performance and reliability: instrument crash reporting, monitor ANRs and jank, and drive crash-free session rates above 99.5%
-
Implement CI/CD pipelines for mobile (Fastlane, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions) including automated testing, staged rollouts, and App Store / Play Store release management
-
Build shared component libraries and design system implementations with design (Figma) to ensure pixel-accurate, accessible UI across devices
-
Integrate analytics, A/B testing, and feature flag SDKs to support experimentation and data-driven product decisions
-
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and on-call rotations for mobile-specific incidents
What We Are Looking For
-
3โ6 years of mobile engineering experience, with shipped production apps on at least one platform (iOS or Android) and working proficiency in the other
-
Deep fluency in Swift and/or Kotlin, including modern patterns: SwiftUI or Jetpack Compose, coroutines/async-await, and reactive frameworks (Combine, Flow)
-
Strong grasp of mobile architecture patterns: MVVM, modularization, dependency injection (Hilt, Swinject), and clean architecture principles
-
Experience with mobile networking (OkHttp, Alamofire, URLSession), REST/GraphQL APIs, and handling real-world conditions like poor connectivity and background execution limits
-
Track record owning app releases end-to-end, including store review processes, staged rollouts, and hotfixes
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
