Role Description

The Operating Theater Registered Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based in Abu Dhabi. The nurse will provide perioperative care, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative monitoring for surgical patients. Daily responsibilities include preparing the operating room, checking equipment and supplies, ensuring adherence to infection control standards, and assisting the surgical team during procedures. The role involves monitoring patient status, maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals, and supporting patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. The nurse will also participate in quality improvement initiatives, follow hospital policies and clinical guidelines, and contribute to training and orientation of new team members.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in Abu Dhabi or the UAE, with completed nursing degree (BSN or equivalent).

  • Operating theater / perioperative nursing experience, including scrubbing and circulating roles and familiarity with a range of surgical procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols in the operating room environment.

  • Ability to manage surgical equipment and instruments, support anesthesia teams, and respond effectively to intraoperative emergencies.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully with multidisciplinary clinical teams.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and accurate clinical documentation practices.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development, evidence-based practice, and participation in training and quality improvement activities.

  • Previous experience in an international or multicultural healthcare setting is an advantage; proficiency in English required, additional languages beneficial.
