At SPM Assets, our purpose is simple: improving built environments for generations to thrive.

We are a specialist building asset management business helping organisations across Australia better understand, plan and manage their building portfolios through asset information, surveys, advisory services and technology.

As part of Planon, we are bringing together our established asset management expertise with leading property and building technology as we continue to develop our Integrated Building Lifecycle Management (IBLM) approach.

We’re now looking for an experienced operational leader to take a key role in our Australian business.

The opportunity

Reporting to our Australian Operations Director, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of our Australian services business and a multidisciplinary team delivering survey and consulting projects for customers with large and complex building portfolios.

This is more than a traditional Service Delivery Manager role.

You’ll be responsible for bringing together people leadership, project delivery, customer relationships and commercial performance. You’ll stay close enough to the work to understand what’s happening, while giving your team the leadership and support they need to perform at their best.

Importantly, you’ll have genuine influence over how we develop our people, improve our services and grow our customer relationships.

What you’ll own

People & Leadership

Lead, coach and develop our Australian services team, creating clear expectations and a culture of accountability, collaboration and ownership. You’ll help people develop their capabilities, manage performance and build a team that enjoys doing great work together.

Projects & Service Delivery

Oversee a portfolio of survey and consulting projects, ensuring we deliver to the quality, scope, timeframe and budget we’ve committed to. You’ll manage competing priorities, help allocate resources effectively and provide practical leadership when projects need support or escalation.

Customers & Growth

Build trusted relationships with customers and act as a senior point of contact. You’ll understand their challenges, help shape practical solutions and identify opportunities where SPM can provide greater value through additional services and solutions.

Commercial Performance

Maintain visibility across project performance, budgets, team utilisation, resourcing and productivity. Working with the Operations Director, you’ll contribute to planning and forecasting and help ensure our services business continues to grow sustainably and profitably.

Who are we looking for?

We’re less concerned about finding someone who has held this exact job title before and more interested in finding the right leader.

You may currently be an Operations Manager, Technical Services Manager, Contract Manager, Senior Project Manager, Asset Manager, Facilities Manager or an Associate/Team Leader within a consulting, engineering or technical services environment.

Your experience could come from asset management, facilities management, building services, engineering, property, surveying or another part of the built environment.

What matters is that you bring:

·       Strong experience leading and developing people.

·       Experience managing technical, professional services, operational or project delivery teams.

·       A good understanding of the built environment.

·       The ability to oversee multiple projects, customers and competing priorities.

·       Strong customer and stakeholder relationship skills.

·       Commercial awareness, including project budgets, resources and financial performance.

·       A practical approach to problem solving and decision making.

·       The ability to move comfortably between the bigger picture and the detail.

·       A mindset of continuous improvement and an ability to bring people with you through change.

You don’t need to be the technical expert in everything we do. We already have strong asset management and technical expertise within SPM.
