We are looking for an experienced part-time bookkeeper/accountant to work out of our office in Troy.

We are a growing welding, construction, mobile service and heavy truck roadside company. We currently use QuickBooks and are looking for someone who can come in a few days or hours a week, keep our books organized and accurate, and help us stay on top of the financial side of the business.

We would really like to find someone who has worked with construction companies, contractors, trucking companies or other trade businesses before. Experience with job costing, payroll, sales tax, equipment and vehicle expenses is a big plus.

The person we hire would handle things such as:

• QuickBooks bookkeeping

• Bank and credit card reconciliations

• Accounts payable and receivable

• P&L and financial reports

• Job costing

• Payroll and sales tax reconciliation

• Keeping everything organized for tax time

• Tracking equipment, vehicle and other business expenses

We are also looking for someone with good knowledge of business taxes and tax planning. We don’t just want someone entering numbers into QuickBooks. We want someone experienced who can look at the business throughout the year and help us make smart decisions before tax time.

Experience with S-Corps, LLCs, owner payroll and distributions, multiple business entities, holding companies, business trusts, depreciation, Section 179 and other legal tax-saving strategies would be a big plus.

You do not need to be a CPA. Experience is more important to us.

This could be a great fit for someone who is retired or semi-retired and has spent many years in accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation or working as a controller and is looking for some flexible part-time work.

This is an in-person position at our Troy, NY office. The schedule is flexible and can be worked out with the right person.

Pay will depend on experience.
