Platform Engineer (Azure & Microsoft Fabric)
Solicitors Regulation Authority
Job description
Platform Engineer (Azure & Microsoft Fabric)
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to help shape how our technology and data platforms are designed, governed and optimised across the organisation. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, forward-thinking technology function where your expertise will directly improve platform stability, efficiency and delivery outcomes across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences who are motivated to make a meaningful impact.
The role
As a Platform Engineer, you'll take ownership of the governance, lifecycle management and continuous optimisation of our cloud and platform environments. You'll ensure environments are clearly understood, well controlled and aligned to delivery, testing and business needs, whilst supporting the safe and predictable progression of change into production.
This is a hands-on role with significant time spent working directly in Microsoft Azure, designing and implementing standardised environment structures, governance controls, automation and platform management practices. You'll work closely with Architecture, CloudOps, DevOps, Security and Delivery teams to reduce platform complexity, improve cost effectiveness and increase visibility across our technology landscape.
As our Microsoft Fabric capability expands, you will also play a key role in establishing and supporting the operational foundations of the Fabric platform. This includes capacity management, workspace governance, environment separation, access controls, monitoring and platform optimisation, ensuring Data and Analytics teams can safely and effectively deliver business value through trusted and well-governed services.
You'll help drive the organisation's transition towards a modern platform engineering approach through increased automation, standardisation and Infrastructure as Code practices.
You'll also play a central role in platform governance, chairing Evergreen Component Workshop in Environment Management Group and helping define clear, repeatable processes for creating, maintaining and retiring environments across the organisation.
What is in it for you
-
Grow your platform engineering career with hands-on experience across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud technologies.
-
Expand your impact by shaping platform standards, governance and operational excellence at an enterprise level.
-
Develop leadership and stakeholder management skills through collaboration across Architecture, Security, Delivery, Data and Operations teams.
-
Play a key role in the evolution of a modern Platform Engineering function within a technology-driven organisation.
-
Progress towards senior or lead engineering roles in an inclusive, supportive and learning-focused environment.
What we are looking for
-
Proven experience of platform engineering, cloud administration or platform management within Microsoft Azure environments.
-
Experience administering and supporting enterprise technology platforms, including governance, monitoring, access management and service optimisation.
-
Understanding of Microsoft Fabric, including platform administration, governance and operational support principles, together with experience of Microsoft Azure and wider Microsoft cloud technologies.
-
Experience supporting platform services through their full lifecycle, including provisioning, operational support, maintenance, continuous improvement and retirement.
-
Understanding of platform security, resilience, monitoring, cost management and operational governance.
-
Experience working with automation, Infrastructure as Code or deployment tooling to improve platform consistency, reliability and efficiency.
-
Ability to work effectively across Operations, Delivery, Architecture, Security and Data & Analytics teams.
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication (verbal and written) skills.
-
Excellent team working, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
