Job Description
The Power BI Report Developer is responsible for working with HGA’s IT, Data, and Analytics teams in partnering with business stakeholders to design, develop and maintain enterprise reporting solutions that deliver accurate, timely and actionable insights.
This role combines business analysis, data modelling, report development and data governance, while promoting enterprise reporting standards, reusable semantic models and continuous improvement of organisational data assets.
Responsibilities

Engage with business stakeholders to understand reporting objectives, business processes and decision-making requirements.

Support workshops to capture, document and validate reporting requirements.

Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and the IT, Data and Analytics teams to develop an understanding of complex business measures, KPIs and calculations, recognising that definitions may vary across business domains.

Work with stakeholders to establish and document agreed enterprise definitions for key business measures.

Develop an understanding of domain-specific business concepts, terminology and operational reporting nuances (e.g. reconciled versus unreconciled data, reporting cut-off periods and operational reporting cycles).

Translate business requirements into technical specifications and reporting solutions.

Design, develop and maintain high-quality Power BI reports, dashboards and scorecards.

Develop reusable DAX measures, calculated columns, calculations and visualisations aligned with enterprise reporting standards.

Promote reuse of certified Enterprise Semantic Model objects, conformed dimensions and enterprise business measures wherever possible.

Validate report outputs against source systems and agreed business rules.

Prepare technical documentation, report specifications and end-user guidance.

Provide demonstrations, training and knowledge transfer to business users.

Identify data quality issues, reporting risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Identify high-risk reporting dependencies such as spreadsheets, SharePoint lists and other end-user managed repositories used as sources of truth.

Document opportunities to strengthen enterprise reporting through direct ingestion into the Enterprise Data Lake and incorporation into the Enterprise Semantic Model.

Provide recommendations to strengthen enterprise reporting capability through improved data governance, enhanced data quality and reduction of manual reporting processes.

Support deployment, testing and ongoing enhancement of enterprise reporting solutions.
Qualifications

Experience developing enterprise reporting solutions using Microsoft Power BI.

Strong understanding of data modelling, star schemas and semantic models.

Experience writing complex DAX and Power Query.

Ability to analyse complex business requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.

Experience working with business stakeholders across multiple functional areas.

Understanding of data governance, master data and enterprise reporting principles.

Knowledge of Azure-based data platforms and modern data warehousing concepts is desirable.

Mining industry knowledge or the ability to quickly understand mining operational concepts is highly regarded.
