About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our team at Flagstone Family Practice, 5 days a week. This a Casual role to start, with a view to become permanent.

This is a key position within our healthcare team, where you will play a vital role in delivering quality patient care, supporting our GPs, and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services. As Practice Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients across a range of medical and surgical conditions, whilst contributing to the overall health outcomes and patient satisfaction of our practice.

Key responsibilities

• Providing direct nursing care to patients presenting with acute and chronic medical and surgical conditions

• Performing clinical procedures including wound care, dressing changes, injections, immunisations.

• Taking and recording patient vital signs, observations and clinical history

• Assisting GPs during consultations and medical procedures

• Conducting patient health assessments and health screening programmes

• Providing patient education and health promotion advice relating to illness prevention and management

• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records in accordance with best practice standards

• Ensuring infection control procedures and clinical safety protocols are followed at all times

• Managing clinical supplies and equipment, and maintaining a safe and hygienic clinical environment

• Collaborating with the wider healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes

What we're looking for

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN)

• Qualification in general nursing or equivalent recognised nursing qualification

• Proven experience working as a Practice Nurse or in a primary healthcare setting

• Strong clinical knowledge and competency in general medical and surgical nursing care

• Proficiency in performing nursing procedures such as wound care, injections.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, GPs and colleagues

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands

• Commitment to maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development

• Current First Aid certification (desirable)

• Experience with general practice computer systems and patient management software (desirable)
