Overview / Job Purpose

The

Presales Engineer โ€“ Hyperscale Data Centre

will lead the technical development of secure, resilient, scalable, and commercially competitive data centre solutions from opportunity qualification through contract award and handover.

The role will translate customer requirements for capacity, availability, sustainability, compliance, programme, and future growth into integrated solution architectures, basis-of-design documents, technical proposals, BOQs/BOMs, and cost models.

Minimum Requirements โ€“ Mandatory

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Proven experience in Hyperscale Data Centre projects.

  • Hands-on involvement in Data Centre facilities with an IT load of 10 MW or above.

  • Strong MEP infrastructure experience covering power, cooling, and mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical qualification of hyperscale data centre opportunities by reviewing RFPs, specifications, drawings, schedules, contractual requirements, and customer requirements.

  • Conduct technical discovery and define requirements covering IT load, rack density, deployment phases, redundancy, availability, utility capacity, cooling, security, sustainability, and future expansion.

  • Develop end-to-end architectures for multi-megawatt data centres covering MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, busway, power monitoring, cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC, heat rejection, BMS, EPMS/EMS, and DCIM.

  • Evaluate

    N, N+1, 2N, and distributed redundant architectures

against availability, concurrent maintainability, scalability, operational requirements, and total cost of ownership.

  • Prepare basis-of-design documents, technical proposals, compliance matrices, capacity calculations, load lists, equipment schedules, single-line diagrams, BOQs/BOMs, technical datasheets, and tender presentations.

  • Work closely with estimation, procurement, and OEM partners to develop cost models, evaluate quotations, validate technical compliance, and manage deviations, exclusions, warranties, and lead times.

  • Lead value engineering and solution optimisation while maintaining resilience, safety, maintainability, performance, and contractual compliance.

  • Ensure proposed solutions align with applicable standards, including

Uptime Institute, EN 50600, ISO/IEC 22237, TIA-942, IEC, BS, NFPA, ASHRAE

, and relevant KSA authority requirements.

  • Lead technical clarifications, bid workshops, customer presentations, and solution discussions with consultants, procurement teams, engineering stakeholders, and technology partners.

  • Provide structured post-award handover to design, procurement, project delivery, and commissioning teams, including the approved design basis, assumptions, risks, compliance commitments, pricing basis, and vendor information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Years of experience:

5โ€“10 years of relevant experience in data centre presales, solution engineering, consultancy, or multidisciplinary data centre design.

  • Education:

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Industry exposure:

    Proven experience in

Hyperscale Data Centre or large colocation projects, with hands-on involvement in facilities of 10 MW IT load or above

    .

  • Technical expertise:

    Strong knowledge of

    MEP infrastructure

, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, cooling systems, mission-critical infrastructure, Tier III/Tier IV design principles, high-density white-space environments, and integrated MEP/ICT systems.

  • Presales skills:

Hands-on experience preparing technical tender responses, BOQs/BOMs, compliance matrices, cost estimates, technical presentations, vendor evaluations, and customer clarifications.

  • Tools & OEM exposure:

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, or equivalent tools, with experience coordinating solutions with OEMs such as Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Eaton, Huawei, ABB, Siemens, Caterpillar, Cummins, or equivalent manufacturers.

  • Regional exposure:

Experience with greenfield campuses, phased expansions, and brownfield/live-site upgrades. Experience in

    KSA or the wider GCC

    is preferred.
