Primary Electrical Design Engineer

The Primary Electrical Design Engineer must have electrical relevant degree from recognized university and must have thorough knowledge and work experience of primary electrical engineering work in132kV/230kV or higher voltage booster station or substation. It will be priority with engineering experience of wind and solar energy projects specifically Substations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design of wind/solar project general substation electrical layout as per codes and standards, Main transformer, Auxiliary Power System, SVG, HV/MV Distribution(GIS/AIS), Earthing and lightning protection, Lighting system, Cable Routing plans, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements.

• Drawing of one line and three-line main electrical diagrams, Electrical layout diagram, Control power system diagrams, Lightning protection diagrams, Auxiliary power supply wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, etc. Independently complete short-circuit current calculation, primary electrical equipment capacity calculation and selection, BOMs, wire schedule, etc.

• Preparing power system studies like short circuit studies ,arc-flash analysis reports and grounding analysis per standards, and shielding studies for lightning protection, cable sizing for different voltage levels and applications, battery sizing, etc.

• Preparing the conceptual to detail level engineering documents, feasibility study and detail design reports, technical specifications, data sheets and reports.

• Communication with Electrical company and related engineering or consultant company to solve the compatibility issue.

• Communication with suppliers and review equipment documents.

• Coordination/review of preliminary/final design documents, proposals and vendor submittals and making Financial and technical evaluation.

• Coordinates with Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineers

• Provides site specific solutions to matters arising during construction.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

• 8-10 years’ experience as High Voltage Electrical Engineer or similar role.

• Candidate have worked in Wind/Solar energy projects specifically Substations will be preferred.

• Have expertise in electrical system studies and calculations using PSCAD, ETAP etc.

• Have strong knowledge of High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (SEC, IEC, CIGRE, NEC etc.)

• Professional License requirements: Membership of SEC.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously.

• Have knowledge of AutoCAD and working on 2D & 3D drawings.

• Ready to join within 30 days.

• Location: Riyadh.

• Language: English, Arabic is an advantage.
