Product Manager - Industrial Chargers
Minit Charger
Job description
Minit Charger is seeking a Product Manager – Industrial & Aviation Charging Solutions to lead the definition, execution, and lifecycle strategy for our next-generation fast-charging systems and fleet telematics platforms.
In this role, you will bridge customer needs across heavy-duty industrial equipment (material handling, forklifts) and aviation ground support equipment (GSE) with deep technical engineering execution. You will drive both high-power AC/DC charging hardware (including high-efficiency Silicon Carbide power stages, 400Hz AC grid conversion, 80VDC/750VDC power delivery) and integrated cloud-based fleet management/battery monitoring software (AssetPro 360 / CUMULUS).
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap Execution
-
Define and execute the multi-year product roadmap for industrial fast chargers, aviation GSE power solutions, and integrated telematics systems.
-
Translate customer needs in airport apron environments and heavy material handling facilities into actionable Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
-
Conduct competitor analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO) models, and value proposition alignment to ensure market leadership across material handling and airport electrification sectors.
2. Technical Definition & R&D Collaboration
-
Partner closely with Power Electronics, Embedded Systems, and Mechanical Engineering teams to specify hardware architectures—including 400Hz AC-to-DC conversion, Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge topologies, and Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFET-based designs.
-
Specify requirements for embedded firmware and communications, including OCPP open-source implementations, CAN bus communication, and IoT/cloud fleet telematics.
-
Oversee thermal management requirements for ruggedized, sealed NEMA/IP-rated enclosures operating in extreme ambient temperatures (including thermoelectric/Peltier cooling systems).
3. Compliance, Certification & Field Reliability
-
Ensure all charger models meet strict electrical, functional, and embedded software safety standards (UL 2202, UL 2231-1/2, UL 2594, UL 1998, NFPA 70 / NEC).
-
Work with Quality and Validation teams to establish automated test procedures and monitor field diagnostics (isolation monitoring, leakage current simulation, E-stop circuit reliability).
-
Track product reliability metrics (MTBF, warranty rates) and manage hardware engineering changes or component lifecycle transitions.
4. Commercialization & Cross-Functional Leadership
-
Lead cross-functional go-to-market strategies with Sales, Operations, and Field Service teams for major enterprise commissioning projects and airport installations.
-
Author technical product collateral, including datasheets, integration guides, application notes, and sales enablement documentation.
-
Provide field support for pilot testing, customer site evaluations, and partner demonstrations at industry trade events.
Required Qualifications
-
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related technical field.
-
Experience: 5+ years of Product Management experience leading hardware and embedded software products in industrial power electronics, EV charging (EVSE), aviation ground support, or heavy equipment electrification.
Domain Expertise:
-
Deep understanding of AC/DC power conversion, high-power DC fast charging, battery topologies (Lithium-ion & Lead-Acid), and industrial telematics.
-
Familiarity with aviation 400Hz utility infrastructure, 80VDC to 750VDC charger architectures, and airport apron operational constraints.
-
Working knowledge of open charging protocols (OCPP), industrial communication buses (CAN, RS-485), and embedded processors (e.g., NXP i.MX series).
-
Direct experience navigating regulatory compliance standards (UL 2202, UL 2231, UL 1998, NFPA 70).
-
Tools & Process: Proficiency with JIRA/Confluence for agile development workflows, requirements traceability, and bug management.
