POSITION TITLE: Product Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing

BROAD FUNCTION (General Purpose of Function)

Develops products by identifying potential products; conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specification, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction; developing marketing strategies.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Nature of Decisions Made)

  • Determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.

  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.

  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s product to competitors’ products.

  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.

  • Obtains product market share by working with Sales team to develop product sales strategies.

  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.

  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.

  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.

  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; prepares return-on-investment analyses; establishes time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.

  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.

  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; participates in professional societies.

This part identifies both INSIDE and OUTSIDE contacts, emphasizing the more important and complex relationships that are required for the successful performance of this position’s duties.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION (Education and Experience)

EDUCATION: Minimum education required to perform duties.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field.

  • Equivalent experience considered.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum years required both inside and outside the company, to perform duties.

  • Work-related experience equivalent to 4+ years of product management and/or sales experience.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage large and high priority projects efficiently and effectively and to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to conduct and/or supervise the clinical trial process as a representative of Marketing in an organized and methodical manner.

  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.

  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to prepare professional written and oral presentations and market analysis.

  • Excellent market research skills and the ability to report research findings with high degrees of validity and reliability.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
